The 808 is a fine processor, yes with a screen resolution of 2k the Adreno 418 gpu is a bit stretched. But let's be honest with our selves is 2k really necessary on screen of less than 6 inches? (and I am a G4 owner)
Can you imagine the G4 if it had 1080p screen?, or try to picture the M9 or Xperia Z3+ with with an 808?
Yes in terms of benchmarks the 808 is never going to compete with the Exynos. But I maintain that the 808 is a perectly acceptable alternative to the troubled 810.

Bantoo, 15 Jun 2015Exynos is a better choice.Exynos is least customized of all the SoCs and its raw power is of not optimized.
Also i dont see the companies like LG , HTC , Sony going to use Exynos.

If you go on the exynos or the hi-silicon devices. You are already doom.

the truth Is...all of snapdragon chipset heats up....phones with multi tasking thats what u end up with....using xperia z3 it heats z1 you could boil rice with it...BlackBerry q10 same

samsung fell behind of their plans once because qualcom wasn't ready for 64 bit on note 4,they couldn't just say hey guys SD version won't get 64 update but the exynos one will so note 4 was left without 64 bit at all.they didn't make the same mistake again by offering 2 variants one with no problems other one with heating issues.

Remember 810 was not their own custom chip, it was rushed to compete with Apple, it's a stop gap for the awesome 820 which should easily beat the competition.

The company that manufactures their processors are trying to figure out ways of manufacturing chips at 10nm process. So if all goes well before the end of this year then they will reclaim their throne.

All the mobile world has to bear 810 new version 2.1 meltdown. HTC, Sony, even MS other top Chinese brands are doomed. Samsung made a split second best decision to stay away. Even Edge Plus 808 Soc should be doubted. Mediatek, Exynos are only left to encash this fatal error. No more being of any brand even BB.

The biggest failure of Qualcomm the SD 810 while now the lead is with exynos 7420 while mediatek with helio x10 is behind and at last has every one forgotten nvidia tegra k1 and x1

Unlike iOS Android has a myriad services and background apps going on and on and on causing lower performance to the foreground apps, using more cores takes away the background load. Now that iOS has put multitasking it is going to start using more cores as well (i.e. see iPad air 2)

The Samsung Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) departure to Exynos land made its marks, that is for sure.
But, even Samsung's flagship is facing low sales.
The smartphone market is hitting two walls:
1. Less demand: people already own a smartphone and will not swap theirs in each and every generation;
2. More offer: many Chinese OEMs are selling their products for a smaller price, making them more wanted, and to do that they use other SoC manufacturers, like MediaTek and even Samsung's Exynos (like Meizu).
This leaves the industry leader, both in numbers and Research and Development (R&D), in a difficult position:
a) If Qualcomm invests more in R&D to differentiate their SoCs from the crowd, it may lead to higher cost to OEMs and to the final client;
b) If Qualcomm focuses on price it leaves R&D behind and can lead to less advantages over other and loss for everyone in the industry for not evolving.
All smartphones at my house have Qualcomm SoCs (LG G2, OnePlus One, Xiaomi Redmi 1S and LG L65) just because they are good.
I will keep on buying smartphones based on its SoC.
Because of quality of the product and development.
