Nokia answers back: Symbian stays, so does Maemo

20 November, 2009
Just a couple of days ago Maemo team suggested Nokia has plans to ditch Symbian as an OS of choice for its N-series devices in favor of Maemo. Nokia however have something to say on the matter...

Look at the O2, Orange and Sim Free plans, You can get most phones absolutely free and only paying around $60 (converted) a month. We Americans get crap phones like the iPhone 3GS. O2 needs to come over here to America.

Nokia should consider to use other OS instead of Symbian. Symbian OS in Nokia phones always pop out a lot of problems, unlike other such as SE, Samsung which can make better phone with Symbian... Symbian should be "Abolished" in nokia!

I like the idea of having both OS. It will justify some price differentiation as Nokia's N-Series lines tend to overlap and be released almost on top of one another.

When it comes to choosing an OS, Nokia deems Symbian as more suitable for mainstream smartphones, while Maemo will be used only on powerful high-end productivity devices.

The above confirms that Maemo is superior to Symbian and symbian has to be updated to face the next decade.

          Any objection.

What Nokia sells in the US are unlocked phones, everywhere else Nokia's phones are very cheap in comparison with things like the iPhone 3GS which costs almost $1000 unlocked.

If Nokia spent as much time listening to their fans/discreditors as they do trying to tell the media they're wrong about this or that information (which they seem to do a lot of), maybe they wouldn't be so surprised that phones like the N900 are what people really want.

I just bought a WinXP computer to browse a web and type a few letters. Are you telling me that the OS is two generation behind? Shall I shoot myself or the seller? I cannot type my letters on such obsolete system no matter what. I am so pissed on the Microsoft. Right?
