A hardware fault causes HTC HD2 *pink* camera issues, confirmed

23 November, 2009
We've seen quite a few of our camera samples taken with HTC HD2 getting an annoying pinkish tint in the center. It seems we're not alone and if you're planning into getting one of those you'd better read this...

I's one of the few HD2 lovers apperently. I have had aboslutely no problem with it, no pink spots or what so ever. Very happy with it.

I never thought I would dislike my old phone (Htc Touch Pro) that fast, currently I have two phone's. But I will trade my Touch Pro in for a basic Nokia phone. Btw Great battery life, much better than I exspected.

The HD2 is an absolute step forward, its fast, fingerfriendly (no need for a stylus) and has better camera performance. At first i was disappointed by the video recording performance, but after selecting 30fps@VGS it works much better and really satisfies me.

Just a few possible improvements for the HTC crew: Make sure your next model has a dualsim option, a better speaker for musicplaying and outofthebox divx/avi/mpg/flv/mp4/mov/swf capabilities.

I just cant believe that the HD2 doesnt play divx outofthe box, verry disappointing, of course you can install stuff that does that. But come on Divx is around for ages..

Just got one few days ago knowing of this issue before hand. Do you really think that you will buy the HD2 for its camera? Come on now...I don't even bother tapping the camera icon. Enjoy the other benefits.

Major ouch for prospective buyer. It is time for HTC to work on stills and vidoes of their devices. If Samsung able to balance it out why can"t they?

It's obvious that HTC cannot afford such a financial loss by replacing at least the camera modules, if not the whole device, and, after they quicly reacted with "yeah, we'll replace the camera" stuff, then they realised that the costs will pretty much cancel some of the profits, and preferred to patch the firmware with some color-bias picture enhancing algorithm that CAN provide the same result, but that can and will do damage in some other picture related issues. Let's see if the extracted RAW data will reveal the bodge...
