Another advice to BB.
Never make cheap and low end phone!
At least the quality similar to Sony Xperia or HTC ONE.

Definitely think they could get a sustainable market share if they run a fork like Amazon and put out a secure phone. Obviously not hard to release a decently spec'd phone if you can get a little volume and have apps. A perfect example is that Apple is still in the game with a phone that doesn't have any top specs but has the best app support.

AnonD-374448, 24 Jun 2015LOl.. i guess the sales Volume speak out well for blackberr... moreIf they are not selling well it does not mean they are not producing quality phones! Good selling is more question of marketing strategies than quality of products. One simple question - why do we need constant improvements if mobile phones are already doing what they are supposed to do brilliantly? Frustrating consumers to spend their money... for toys...

AnonD-374448, 24 Jun 2015LOl.. i guess the sales Volume speak out well for blackberr... moreBB phones are not aimed for the masses. BB targets companies and users who want their bits & bytes to be as secure as possible. Android phones target normal, average users that don't need all those security features. This is why BB's sales are low: because they target people who need secure devices. Because of this extra security, their phones are also more expensive. Also, as I saw that you've mentioned volume of sales, which again proves my point. Different high-end phones, different build qualities, different target users. Just like you would see more high-end Kias than high-end Audis being sold. Price has a big impact on the consumer. The Android phone that they will make (if they will actually be able to make Android a more secure OS) will be a low-end phone, built for the masses. Also, you can expect this phone to have a higher price than other same-specs phones on the market. (security & build quality will increase the price) On a side note, I didn't say that the Note 4 is a bad phone. It's just a bad option for people that need security. And ofc phone reviewers that do it for a living won't choose Passport over Note 4, because they don't need that extra security. They are just regular phone users. P.S. I don't post under 'Anonymous' :) and I don't care if BB goes out of business, as I don't own a BB anymore. I'm just a regular phone user now.

BlackBerry had a software revenue target of 500 millions foe fiscal 2016. Plus they have a lead in the evolving IoT market. If these things work out for them, they could very well survive as a niche company or beyond. Your comment is based on devices only.

I do not believe in secure phones, NSA and other secret services are spying on every phones in the world.
BUT: if BB make an android phones (no bigger, than 4,3 inch, and only touch screen, no qwerty) I will buy it, if it will be a reasonable price.

'so many features',, really? this is also why Blackberrian are made fun of outside of Crackberry Forum. even Kevin the ultime Blackberrian himself are carrything other devices with him all the time. so, why does BB bother with lowEnd android devices? yeah , coz the 'UNmatched Build Quality' bb devices just arent sold enough to get bb out the losses.. i believe u've never hold a NOte4 let alone use one. Not one single professional mobile device reviewer that are doing it for a living would pick passport over Note4. If there is pl write the link here. its a shame ure posting under Anonymous, coz i would love to come back to you when blackberry is finally out of business.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2015If you haven't been in the loop, even Audi is driving down ... moreWhat the... How did you get to escalate this to such nonsense? Well, anyway, yes Audi introduced some cheaper cars in their line, along with their high-end cars. But that doesn't matter in the example that I presented. If you were to take a high-end Audi and a high-end Kia and compare them, the Audi would be the better car, with the better build, with a higher price. That's what the Passport is to the Note 4. High-end Audi vs. high-end Kia. (because both the Passport and the Note 4 are considered to be 'high-end phones') So it's obviously normal and common sense that the Passport had a higher price than Note 4 when it came out.

AnonD-374448, 24 Jun 2015quality vs cheapness? Audi vs KIA? device for masses insted... moreSorry to break it to you, but the Passport's price is well justified to be higher than that of a Note 4. Yes, build quality matters. Phone security matters as well. That physical keyboard with capacitive surface keys matter. As I said, you can't complain that a device with so many features and a secure OS is more expensive than a large touchscreen phone that runs a free OS that offers little security. Also, BB said that if they will decide to make an Android phone, this will be a low-end phone. High-end devices will still run BB OS. So to answer your question: yes, if they will make an Android device, it will be for the masses and they will not target people that seek quality and security. If you don't believe me, other articles can confirm that it will be a low-end device.

Amonynous, 24 Jun 2015Passport's price was higher than Note 4 because Note 4 is a... moreIf you haven't been in the loop, even Audi is driving down the 'cheap' road with their new line of car models. Which should qualify them for cheapness or 'quality' cheapness which then should now qualify them as a car company/brand for the masses. Again with these car vs phone world, they are only linked together by a common factors; those are the production/assembly line and the connectivity technology they use such as BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, and many more so. But they can never jive into a spec wars nor dive into a sales wars. Uhm, doi, silly and funny. Perhaps, their marketing techniques, their sales strategy or their promotions of their own developments like boasting what technology one company has to offer than the rest could be remotely compared. But spec wars? Could we directly compare technical specifications of a car to a phone or vice-versa? Talk about sales wars, pshh. The masses who buy cars are not exactly the same masses who buy phones. Even the world's average kid having the world's average lunch money who saves lunch money for a couple of weeks, months, or so could buy a brand new entry-level phone, much more so a mass-marketed brand new feature or basic phone. Could the same kid saving lunch money for as long as the kid did to buy a brand new phone for the masses also purchase a brand new car for the masses at the same amount of saved lunch money? What a distant distinction. The cheapest branded phone we can currently buy in today's smartphone market does not have the same value as the cheapest branded car we can currently buy in today's car market. One could find out the hassle of choosing and purchasing a car is cognizably dissimilar, cognoscibly distinguishable, or fathomably nonidentical from the hassle of choosing and purchasing a phone. We don't regularly deal with service or labor warranties upon closing a deal on a car, do we? We don't regularly deal with insurance and registration upon sealing a deal on a phone either, do we?
