shantanu, 27 Nov 2009seems that now SE is only interested in high-end models and... moreYou're absolutely right. There really was a Sony Ericsson era, starting with the K800i. They just couldn't keep it up. All their phones succeeding the K800i always had issues with quality, performance, etc. Used to love the company and their gadgets..They just lost a fan.

Kinda sad. SE had some great phones a few years ago. XPERIA X10 is the only one I'd considering buying in their lineup right now. Let's hope they don't mess that one up or I'll completely lose confidence in their quality.

I really feel sorry for SE. Hopefully they will make some type of comeback in 2010, but only if they abandon m2 memory cards, and put 3.5mm audio jacks in all phones.
Merry Christmas sales SE.

There's more things that the iPhone can do that symbian can't do rather than vice versa.
Does symbian have augmented reality apps? No
high def 3d games? No
desktop class web browser? No
USEFULL satnav software? No
business card reader? Car finder? Flight control? Airshare? The list is endless...

Capactive screens have disadvantages, especially so if you live in a cold climate or rely on hand writing recognition for input!
All OS have advantages and disadvantages, and different people will favour a different os. Iphone OS - pretty UI, stable, massively restrictive due to apple's rules you havee to play b y. Windows mobile.....hmmm huge list of apps, integration with office, clunky ui (useful apps not thousands of gimmicky crap) android (pretty ui, stable, however not feature complete. symbian - i would argue the most feature rich of the current OS's, runs well on lower handware specs, which means it can be produced in cheaper phones than rivals. this is partly why it is difficult to develop for, because the optimisation developers have to do to get there apps running efficiently on it, however not a pretty or consistent ui but certainly a functional one.

Seriously, after following SE more than 10 years I think it's time to stop. SE lately offered me nothing but disappointment. The current phone I own is w980. You know what? It's F*** horrible!! : restarted every hour of continuous music play, froze at least twice a day, LCD broke after 2 weeks, SE media software lacky as hell.
New SE phones are such a filmsy garbage. My previous phone before w980 was the S710 and it was tough like a rock!! I really want to buy a new phone to replace this sucka but look at what SE have to offer now really depress me.
Satio= lots of bugs
Aino = Can't get PSN connection over 3G
More importantly, all of SE touch screen phones seem to be very slow responded. I just saw the X10 footage, I really hate to see when people try to touch a button and the phone doesn't do what it's told to do.

Android is not as feature rich as Symbian. I care much for features rather than a pretty UI. However, I think Android will overtake Symbian at some point as it's much easier to develop for.

I knew this was gonna happen. Symbian = Suicide. A truly bad OS with a horrible UI. It'll ne a while before the Satio is back on sale, if at all. It wasn't any good anyway with it's cheap resistive screen.
The Aino issue is just touchscreen firmware, it should be back on the shelves before christmas.
The only thing that can save SE is Android on the X10.

Papadopoulos, 27 Nov 2009This is it !! The beginning of the End of Sonyericsson..........I second that. I've not had any serious issues with this handset on Orange, except not being bale to get the Youtube client working. Oh and it runs out of ram quite easily which is suprising as its meant to have 256mb ram. I reckon this issue will be fixed in upcoming firmware. but as it stands at the moment the n97 i used was better at multitasking despite having half the ram! I'd put my money on this being Orange's doing rather than than S.E. The battery life reslly isn't an issue for me. I'm used to charging devices every evening. Admittedly I'd like a larger battery but it'll increase the dimensions of the device.
My phone is fast, responsive, had kinetic scrolling in the sony ui elements. Opera mobile is a fantastic browser, stops me using the symbian browser which in my opinion has such a quirky interface it annoys the hell out of me.
The camera and video quality are just fantastic.
In the end it took a lot for me to part from my Nokia N82 (loved it) but I waited a long time for a nice big touchscreen with a good camera and xenon flash. If multimedia is your thing you won't be disappointed with this phone (when the issues art sorted anyway)!

i can't stand SE, they have plagued my repair system at work the last two years, but i must stress this is not all satio models. Working for VFUK at the mo and this has not affected our SW versions. yet of course.
So don't hate too hard lol its not all as some others have said.

i have owned a satio now for 2 weeks(on vodafone) and absolutely love it.. i have not had 1 problem with it and ive used almost everything on it.. wifi.. gprs.. google maps..camera.. video camera.. games.. texting.. movie player.. music player.. twitter.. facebook.. snaptu etc.. i can tell you i am a bit worried about it going down on me but(fingers crossed)everything has worked perfectly. a work colleague of mine got 1 (2 days before me) and he got all the usual problems with it and sent it back and got a replacement direct from vodafone.. he said it was like going from a mini to a ferrari.. everything was lots faster on the second unit and everything is working 100%.. the only gripe i have on my phone is the battery power.. 1000mah is nowhere nearly powerful enough to keep this baby running for more than 2 days. i got my phone directly from vodafone.
