dan, 11 Dec 2009Regrettably, The current Nokia phones (5800, 5530, & n97) w... moreobviously not
phones such as 5800 and n97 are already 'forgotten' by nokia (expecially the 5800 had no major upgrade so far)
and of course the want sell upcoming phones as well..

Regrettably, The current Nokia phones (5800, 5530, & n97) won't be able to support thr new features of the new UI as it involves two important components: 1. Capacitive screen for multi-touch interfacw 2. Improved CPU (ARM Cortex w/ 600 MHz). Current Nokia S60v5 phones have 1. Resistive screens and 2. 300 MHz processor with no dedicated graphics accelerator. Also, economics dictates that Sales is needed to pay for R&D. Sales that cannot be achieved merely by updating current models.
To even hope that the Nokia X6 would be updated to the new OS is probably a far cry.
If you're intent on buying a new Nokia touchscreen phone, better hold on to your wallets and wait for the new models.

Deep space bar, 06 Dec 2009Iphone can't beat E70 at typing it's the perfect keypad....... morehmm. E70..?? I have not yet tried that phone. E90's keyboard is like a dream come true. So many shortcut keys and big sized keys and the 4inch widescreen display really compliments the wonderful keyboard.
Nokia is not announcing any successor to E90 and E70 aswell.
I also can not wait to get my hands on the N900. Its OS is stunning. But have you tried the Android OS? Is it really good or is it just overly hyped? Im just confused whether to get the N900, Milestone, Xperia X10 or HD2.
Yeah E75 has a good keyboard. It looks very flat, but once you start typing on it, your going to fall for it and just want to keep typing.
Cheers

Mashy, 06 Dec 2009Thanks for that info. Omnia II looks stunning on paper but ... moreIt's a good phone but very very wrong OS on the device WinMo chugs like molasis
And the accelorometer calibration is pretty cool
You put it on a table like a leveler
That's all i like from it and the task manager looks like the n900's which is maemo 5
It's touchWiz that messes up everything on samsung phones

Anonymous, 06 Dec 2009will these updates be available to phones from other compan... moreI do not think so. I hope not.
The reason is that now Symbian is an open source and if Symbian had announced this then all members of the symbian foundation would have access to it. But Nokia has announced these improvements, these would be specifically for Nokia. So all other members of the symbian foundation can use the default symbian OS or can make their own UI. That makes sense so all Manufacturers using Symbian OS will have their own touch to the OS, thus differenciating between the manufacturers.
Cheers
