Omnia II looks stunning on paper but thats the problem with Samsung, they do not deliver a good user experience. Nowadays, they are launching phone after phone, but I do not see myself buying any of the phones they have except maybe Omnia i8910 Omnia HD because its the only phone I know with a capacitive technology and AMOLED display.

Actually your right, even the iPhone does not fill in the need of the physical keyboard. But still it gets quite close to an actual keyboard. iPhone has one of the best onscreen typing experience. I am really fond of physical QWERTY keyboards. I have N97, E75 and E90 at the moment and all have QWERTY keyboards. I am planning on getting the new E72 or Blackberry 9700 Bold, N900 and the Motorola Milestone as my first Android device.
Cheers

Mashy, 05 Dec 2009You do not need to be sorry mate. LG Prada was a good phone... moreTry the samsung jet, and samsung omnia II, the typing is good, responsiveness good. The need for a keyboard is not bigger than with a the capacitive screen of the iPhone.
So if you prefer physical key, you will do that no matter what phone.

I'm wondering... Will those updates be available for all Nokia s60 devices (such as 5800XM which I'm using) or just for new devices?
It would be nice to see those new improvements on 5800XM... :/

it doesn't sound like it will be an update to current symbian phones because current 1's have resistive screens...but it's not logical that u can use 2 fingers on 1 touchscreen but not another. i think advantages and disadvantages between resistive and capacitive touchscreens are bogus

Mashy, 05 Dec 2009You do not need to be sorry mate. LG Prada was a good phone... moreMultitouch is not really important at all
Web browsing i rather you 1 finger at a time plus constant screen touching when browsing seems annoying
Multitouich is more useful in games and SOME apps

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2009LG Prada had capacitive screen, was introduced and released... moreYou do not need to be sorry mate. LG Prada was a good phone but never made it mass market. Nor did LG create the buzz and hype around it the way Apple did. People over at Apple prove time and again that they are great at selling (Marketing). I have the LG crystal, it also uses the capacitive technology but it does not seem as good (sensitive) as the touch screen on Apple iPod Touch and iPhones. I can not really comment about the multi-touch, it sounds good but when I started using N97 which is without multi touch, I did not miss the multi touch at all. Picture zooming and web browsing are the places I mainly used multi touch, but I personaly believe its not that important factor.
One thing I would like to state is that a resistive screen is useless if the phone does not have a physical keyboard. Capacitive screens handle on screen messaging brilliantly by my experience with the iPhones, and not the LG Crystal, I did not like typing on the LG.

Star dome, 04 Dec 2009Nokis 8800 arte just OLED guys, not AMOLED..
samsung the fi... moreIm really sorry to dissapoint you mate but what you are stating is not correct. You seem to be a big samsung fan(boy). No Offence. Samsung actually was going crazy with Nokia's success with symbian OS and got the S60 3rd edition licence from Symbian and Nokia. Still they could not hit the mass market jackpot with high end devices like Nokia used to do.
And AMOLED and OLED is basically one n the same thing. And try to accept the fact that not Nokia but Samsung copied Nokia in the OLED screens aswell and invested huge amounts of money in it as they saw its potential. Samsung did a good job.
Cheers.

Omnia, 04 Dec 2009Nokia will have to do something better than this to make th... moreYeah they sure have to do something way better and bigger than whats going on now. Let me correct you, TouchWhiz UI is not the most popular UI (as in quality) after the iPhone OS. It might be popular because alot of phones run on it. Its just a UI and not a proper OS. Thats what Samsung are trying to do with their new OS Bada (Which will surely use TouchWhiz UI).
And Maemo is by no means in comparison with any other OS in the market be it iPhone OS, Bada, WinMo, Symbian, Android or any other. Maemo is in its own league, alone at the moment. Its something more than a mobile phone. Its between smartphones and Netbooks.
Samsung are creating Bada OS to counter symbian and iPhone OS and to have a strong alternative, they are by no means pitching it against Maemo. Nokia aswell are working on making symbian more competitive by improving the UI vastly.
The bottom line is that the iPhone has set the industry standards for the UI and easy to use OS. All other manufacturers are trying to catch up, they can never recreate that magic .
btw, I am shocked that the Bada OS has not even showed up and your claiming its better than maemo 6. Which is a big improvement over maemo 5 which already awesome!
Peace mate. Cheers

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009Well I wasn't specifcally talking about the N97, but rather... morei agree, i dont like iphone (at least the first 2 gens) because of the lack of basic features that have been "standard" on other phnes ie file-transfer bluetooth, etc. but i gotta admit, i phone re-defined the industry (in addition to the mp3 player industry)... nokia have just been so thick to listen or understand "regular" consumers that just want to do things in a simple way and things that just work. i ditched nokia many years ago for the reason of this alone - complex user interface, and thought it'd changed so i got my self an e72... excellent phone yet as frustrating... my god the menus, settings are all over the place...been at it for almost 2 wks still can't find my way around. i can give you examples but itll be a much longer comment. even sony ericsson's java phones are sooo much simpler, and i dare say its "almost" as easy as the iphone but definitely as easy as the android when it comes to "settings".
