Just what was needed. Samsung has already the best hardware, and now they will have the best software. Number one phonme manufacturer very soon for sure ! Nokia and its prehistoric S60 is becoming dead fast.

me, 09 Dec 2009simple and efficient??? seen that in iphone years ago.... ... moresimple and efficient, saw that in my Nokia 3210, that was loooong before apple even had a thought of making mobiles.

Copying what? LG prada and Neonode? with a touch of UIQ and WinMob.

This is an OS meant for the cheap touchscreen phones out there. Its not supposed to be filled with special effects.
Its just supposed to do its job.
Its not an revolution, its an evolution of touchwiz.

Besides, BADA supports multitasking, and iPhone does not, so that is a big proof that they didnt copy of apple.

as for the presentation... do you really think Jobs is the only good presentor out there?
If you really do think that, youre in a cult.
Please, then leave Gsmarena, and never comment in a forum regarding anything else than your precious cult (apple).

It seems like there has been a lot of missunderstandings here.
Bada OS is at this point no meant to replace all other OSes in Samsung phones.
Its meant to be used in phones that today run the touchwiz... cheaper touch devices... up to the class of pixon 12 and samsung jet.
Its smartphone OS for everyone, as in massmarket, not THE ONE OS, THAT WILL REPLACE THE NEED FOR ALL OTHERS.
Sure, we dont know what the future brings, and maybe BADA turns out to be such a success that SAMSUNG can drop all other OSes, cause Bada beat them at all points, but that seems not to be the plan at this stage.

So come on everyone out there, stop comlpaining, if you had the choice of touch wiz or this in a cheap touchphone, what would you choose? pretty obvious, BADA!

Samsung will probably choose one or two other smartphone OSes to use in their more advanced devices.

Is this OS suppose to be lot of cool effects in the menus?
No, so dont expect, all cool effects require more out of the hardware, thus not a great solution for cheaper devices.

This is a good basic OS. Its a better performer than SEs own system, LG s-class and so on (at least at this point even Nokia S40), and those are the competitors.
So come on, at this moment BADA os, compared to its competitors is a really great OS.

If you want a "real" smartphone os, and a samsung, just pic up one with symbian, limo, android or windows Phone. Bada might not be for you. But for all the people who has not realised they actually want a smartphone... or for those who only use basic smartphone features, and want a basic phone, BADA might very well be it.

seriously, i didnt see anything innovative.. something that would shake up the industry.... everything in their presentation was already in the market. Nothing new, nothing inventive. just copying.......you know who.

On Topic: I just hope that Samsung will manage this new OS correctly, I got high expectations about it. Also this will encourage the other carriers to start creating their own ones.

May we call this the beginning of the end of the dumbphones, maybe?

Adobe already gave an alternative for the lack of Flash in the iPhone. Stevey rejected it.

So tell me now, from who is the fault of not having Flash in the iPhone?

Adobe has taken three years so far and they still haven't released full version of Flash for smartphones, they are at Beta stage and the release is expected some time next year.

Moving on, I'm rather curious as to how a new OS will cope with the market today. Considering that Android is quite out-there now, then there is the Appstore by apple, MS's Windows Mobile store, and finally the symbian platform...

Kinda getting crowded, I think... But then, that means more choice for the end user.

This thread is about BADA and how Samsung wants to implement it for its new own devices, trying to be less dependent from the actual OSs available. A great move from Samsung, if you ask me, because this may help to reduce production costs, meaning price drops for the new phones to be released in the future.

And Flash is not in the iPhone, because it can't support it. It has nothing to do with Adobe.

[deleted post]The iphone OS is outdated, however this presentation is almost like deja vu to the original 2.0 presentation almost 3 years ago... iPhone OS is advanced and still is, there is still no UI as simple and intuitive to date. And the OS will be made more powerful as hardware allows it. They use push instead of multitask to save battery and CPU power, multi-core chipsets arrive, better batteries they will open up multitasking... Simple. They like to keep the experience as good for as long as possible. Other phones once the gloss rubs off, you see how inefficient they are. That's why the E71 was so good, didn't have everything, just enough and worked well...

All flash will do is make it simpler for novice code writers to create apps, and if not carefully monitored will be the complete downfall of their app store. It is an easier code to write apps in, but only people who no C code are able to write apps for apple. I think their was a deliberate strategy in that. All phones need is flash support for web browsing otherwise, IMO, it can be a negative. This is the iPhone's biggest failure, their incompetence to do the simple things in an orthodox way.
