Anonymous, 07 Aug 2015why not just buy USB OTG cables and connect your external h... moreThe OTG is good option but in comparison to SD card:
1) OTG is EXTERNAL storage, not storage expansion like SD Card
2) You can not use OTG while charging or if the phone is connected to laptop, keyboard, or mouse
3) Inconvenience of carrying extra USB and OTG Cable
4) Inconvenience of holding the phone while OTG external storage is connected
5) Easier to lose/ misplace the USB drive
I liked the both options of having OTG and SD Card from my Note 1 to Note 4 (my current Phablet/ second phone with iPhone 6 as primary phone).
One can always buy 128 gb Note 5 (if that option will be available) however then again with SD Card I could have expanded to 256 gb.
Having said that it appears to be good business model for manufacturers as now for more storage the consumer will pay more money to the phone manufacturer instead of the SD card manufacturer. Apple has used this ploy and their sales have not been affected. However Samsung should realize that Note series target market is a bit different e.g. I will not switch to Note 5 not having SD Card slot, unless there is huge incentive like significant increase in battery life.

micro SD slot is good to have, but removable battery is a must!

Looks like all these rumors are pretty inconsistent.
First it was said the battery to be 4100mAh, now 3000mAh;
Memory expansion was available at one point, a week later not, and now it's back;
Then infrared remote control blaster not present, now I see a 2nd hole on the top that is likely it;
Rumors telling us the curved back is glass, but it'd be an expensive production for that only;
No clear picture confirming that the back is glass;
S Pen first said to have a software release system, now pictures show that you can pull it out with a fingernail.
Maybe ALL these are true, and leakers have been given different versions! I'll be happy with this micro SD slot, and then that removable battery.

TheNeighbor, 07 Aug 2015Yeah, take it out from time to time to feel the glass.Ok. I think I had enough of you. I don't need a victory dance when commenting with you and it seems to me, it's not worth it either. I rather reward myself with the Note 5 anyway rather than this. I wish you to have a good whining and complaining all day, Sir. Peace.

This makes no sense,
if Samsung able to include additional slot for SIM and microSD card, why not do it in the first place? Why only on select market?
Are there any advantages for not including one?
Or is it just "iOS version" of Note 5 vs "Android version" of Note 5 ?

why not just buy USB OTG cables and connect your external hard drives for gods sake. if you want a portable external storage there are lots of flash drives out there w/c have microUSB support (no need for OTG cable) so problem solved for external storage! the only issue i have with the new flagships of samsung is the non-removable battery. if the battery starts wearing down (like those in 2+year old laptops) then replacing them would cost more. and dont start telling me about changing phones every 2 years, im trying to future-proof my phone not change phones every couple of years.

ash18, 07 Aug 2015You totally nailed it. But it could get even more ridiculous. Like, claiming "why do you need an SD when you have cloud storage" (As we often read). It's like saying "Why do you need bread when you can buy a chewing gum".

So much for "slim phone". When you add the power bank, it becomes enormous. A phone with a 10 000mah battery would be much more convenient. A phone with a 5000-6000 will practically be like any other phone and the insignificant difference in size would totally not matter in real life.

The point of an SD card slot is convenience. Anybody can get an external storage for a phone, but how inconvenient is that to keep having to hook that up to your phone? You want everything there without having to rely on outside devices. That is the point of a "smart phone."
