I hope my $10 plan works with it. Otherwise, it's just an extra $15 to get an unlimited access without text message service.

180 is a great price for this handset to write that off just because of a mandatory data plan for $25 is ridiculous....besides why would you buy it unlocked and NOT put the data plan with it...that makes no sense
lets do some math:
upfront unlocked (Let's just say you have the phone for a year)
$530+(25*12)=830
upfront with contract
$180+(25*24)=780

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2009My iPhone tethers fine, you don't know what you are talking... moreIt depends on which company you're at, or if you jailbreak the phone or not. At least at AT&T the iPhone doesn't have tethering and the company offers no features at the moment, unless you jailbreak it and use the Data Plan.
This phone is pretty good, nice specs and great OS. Just the design seems a little bulky, but it may not be a mayor problem anyway
With the correct publicity, it may sell vey well.

Will it really cost USD 530 ?
I think thats pretty reasonable. Its at the price of HTC Magic.
Specs are better than Magic though. Sounds unbelievable...

Anywho, true once the ma... moreWell, X10 got stereo speakers, and an 8MP camera!
If you cannot wait, you will have to go with the Nexus.
If you can wait, get the X10.
If you can wait and can pick, get the HD2.
If you are confused, go get the 3GS.
If you hate all of 'em, get the N900.

Nexus 1 Fan, 30 Dec 2009 "I see no reason why $180 is not acceptable"
I see a REAS... moreI think you meant "Simple Math"
Anywho, true once the math is done, it is better to buy it unlocked but if you don't have the money at the time to buy that device unlocked but still want it, $180 starts to look really good. I know if the N900 was $180, I would be posting this message from it. I really hope that Tmobile doesn't release this device in March, if they do, and the Xperia X10 is available, I may have to get the X10.
I'm trying to decide between the X10 and the Nexus One. Both are great devices but the reason I choose the Nexus One over the X10 is because I know Google will fully support it and because it's Android 2.1. The reason I choose the X10 over the Nexus One is because of the Secondary Camera, Color Choice (I really want a White phone that's not an iPhone), and it can most likely be upgraded to Android 2.1 after release. I'm having the hardest time debating between the two.

HD2 + Nexus 1 fan, 30 Dec 2009Please review the following to know why HD2 is beating ever... moreUnfortunately, that screen on the HD2, while 4.3 inches is nice, is not temper resistant and cracks easily. A big screen size on a thin phone is not a good thing due to the easy ability to bend and break. The specs are great other than the missing keyboard and secondary camera.

the price is actually surprisingly good considering N900 and HD2 were much higher. personally HD2 is great but it's slightly too big.. let's just say there's no room for 2 big packages in my pants LOL! I would enjoy the AMOLED (owned a N85 before and it's amazing looking) and definitely would make sure of the 720p video capture given the opportunities. right now has MT3G and it has been great except that it lags from time to time during/after gaming sessions. so snapdragon and 512mb would definitely help that! 3.7" is just the right size b/c it's not too big and yet big enough to brag about against the iPhones, Long live THE gPhone!

Unless Google would put up at least a single service centre here in my country I would consider getting one. But if not then thank you. I don't want to own a disposable phone. And this is the same reason why I'm not tempted to get an Iphone or Blackberry.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2009If the Nexus 1 is free, would you take it???
LOL, it is... more "I see no reason why $180 is not acceptable"
I see a REASON why $180 is not acceptable. Lets do some simple match:
upfront($180) + mandatory data plan"Lets say they apply $25/mo"(24X25) = 180 + 600 = $780.
upfront($180) + Mandatory data plan"Lets say they apply $30/mo"(24X30) = 180 + 720 = $900.
It is better to buy without contract at full price of $530.

LOL, it is acceptable for free. I see no reason why $180 is not acceptable.
If BP wants to give me a Porsche 911 for $180 with a 2 year contract agreement to only use BP gas stations, I will take it.

Is this price even acceptable by regulatory bodies? it is obviously packing more hardware than most phones while being priced below many.
Google obviously using their cash to push this phone.
