I was trying to update the OS to 7.0 version launched recently but some error occured in between so I switch off the phone and now it is not restarting altogether.

Good news for mi users lollipop update is on the way...
Check your updater app on 11 july for beta update or wait till 16 August for stable update...
The latest update runs on miui 8 .,. that is 5.1.1 Lollipop based and have so many cool new features...
