Just updated my device to v40. I must say the phone is snapier, better touch response, i can actually see less typos while typing this thru my phone :-). Automatic switching to landscape qwerty was much needed. Too bad, kinetic scrolling is not available in menus n web browser. I feel that the sound is a bit louder... Or is it just me excited. Plz do comment!! In all, well done Nokia, u r simply the best!!!

tilting the phone sideways while typing text automatically switches to the landscape QWERTY - no more landscape 3x9 keypad nonsense.

if you had the portait qwerty enabled which most people do than tilting the phone always brought up the full screen qwerty mines had it from the start for a year

you're probably talking about n97, that for some reason like the 3x9

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2010I'm really glad this update finally arrived to the 5800xm. ... moreWhy take so much risk???

Simply go to a nokia care center and update it for free(if its under warranty). They will do the needfull in just a couple of hours.

I'm really glad this update finally arrived to the 5800xm. However, I'm fed up with the carriers taking so much time to customise the update and deliver it to its users. I happen to have a 5800xm under Personal (one of the four carriers in Argentina) and I'm happy enough with my phone, but Personal has done NOTHING in customising the firmwares and releasing them. So, here I am, stuck at 20.0.14, my processor stuck at 384MHz too, and seriously thinking about changing the product number (voids the warranty) so that I can have a faster, more reliable phone.. with kinetic scrolling.

The nokia 5800 update is not global, most countries can update some not so keep cheking daily our weekly fia OTA our nokia site
Advice: you now see the potential of Maemo a lunix based device, when a update is available you automatic get a message of it onlike symbian where we manualy need to look everytime, and also maemo goes global so everyone can injoy it over the whole world ad the same time that goes for palms webOS to that is lunix based, So to the owners of a 5800 you know what to look for in your next smartphone a lunix based one

Is Nokia about to lose it? So many different phones and they all are buggy. Take N97 for instance, I was viewing image, flip it to landscape and it escapes to the Home screen. WTF?

In N95 I could stream/listen online mp3 playlist fine but not on N97. And now seems like they're concentrating to N900 more?

                                      Disappointed.
