The Chinese mobile device maker seems to be working on two extremely high-end devices for the future.

The Helio X30 that is coming uses a similar setup to samsung but is still a tri-cluster with a setup like.

    4 Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.5 GHz
    2 Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.0 GHz
    2 Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.5 GHz
    2 Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.0 GHz

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2015This will never work. Exynos is made for Samsung. Mediatek ... moreIn it's highest gear it's nothing more than a dual core. Albeit a powerful dual core in mobile standards. Samsung using A72s on a 14nm process in a quad core set up will be absolutely INSANE.

Just so we're clear the X20 is a tri cluster (I'm pretty sure most of you know this). This means it doesn't truly uses 10 cores all at once. It's 4-4-2 and those A72s are beasts even in just a dual core set up. This is more about efficiency than power though and an extra set of cores to switch to makes lowering the temp a doddle.

AnonD-271298, 02 Sep 2015i think its better to buy a 329$ oneplus 2 than this piece ... moreAnd OP's customer service is non existent, plus, it's no flagship killer, just loud words and hype without actual proof in the product.

the tihing is that even if the antutu score of the media tek is bigger ,the real life performace is not ,because the apps are not optimized to use 10 cores, i dont think that android knows what to do with 10 cores

I hope they improve their UI because it is extremely buggy. I'm stuck with the old version because the new one is a piece of shit.

They have no compromise in the hardware. But the skinned android doesn't meet everyone's taste. And their marketing too..

Topping benchmarks and all, hardware specs seemingly at par with other flagships. Even their MX4 topped benchmarks on its wake. But could they top customer service/support, accessibility, or availability?

Just a counter point; if this thing is gonna be priced close to an S6, it's still the better buy. Combo of FHD + 3600mAh batt (that's a whopping 1000mAh increase compared to S6) should yield a much mightier batt life when S6 itself is already stellar w/ QHD. Subject to Meizu's capability to catch up to Samsung's level of optimizations though we'll see.

matt00112233, 01 Sep 2015I think those companies have reached their peak in term of ... moreYou think wrong(ly). Everybody's thinking (and telling) it for years and years, yet performance increases are unabated.

Only Qualcomm and Intel has failed because they have a bad engineers (great lawyers though).

The other firms are posting yearly gains.

Samsung from Hummingbird to exynos 7
Or Mediatek from MT 6xxx series to Helio X20
Nvidia from Tegra 1 to Tegra X1
                                      Apple's A4 to A9
                                      ...and so much more.

Qualcomm by comparison was actually using the same cores since early 2012 until late 2014 (krait cores) when they tried to use new cores (A57s) it was disastrous. Same with intel, Atoms are basically modified Pentium 3s ... so much badness concentrated in one chip (be it bay trail or cherry trail lately...)...

Nah Helio x20 still use slower ram and internal memory, just the CPU is a bit better, I'm still going for a note5 (exynos 7420) or mi5+ (sd820) with ddr4 and ufc2.0 internal memory
This only worth if is inside a smartphone priced at 200 bucks or less
