18 January, 2010
We first heard of the Motorola Sholes Tablet three months ago when a partial 2009/2010 Motorola roadmap leaked. Back then we still didn't know what this codename would transform into but now all myst...

"The MOTOROI is an upgraded version of China Telecom's exclusive Motorola XT701 that was introduced in December 2010."

Let me know what this weeks lotto numbers are if you can see the future like that gsmarena. Haaaa!!!! You really need to fix that typo.

              I think there's a typo in the article - December 2009 not 2010 ;-)

Note that the model mentioned is an UPGRADE of the China-only model.
This one here is for the Korean market.

Korea used to have tough laws regarding what phone company can make and sell in the country. Basically, the government allowed the home companies like LG and Samsung (then there are Korea-only brands like SKY and other what-nots) and they got really, really advanced in Korea. The companies basically weren't encouraged to use Symbian, WiMo etc etc OSes (ie smartphones) and alas you rarely see smartphones here.

...Until RECENTLY the government decided to free-up some frequency to allow a SIM-based network... Being a Korean immigrant in New Zealand, and being in Korea for a long overdue trip, I've brought my W980 along and it catches a GSM network. Hmm... Korea only used to have WCDMA running the EVDO standard only 5 or so years back... They still do, just that there is a GSM network now.

Korea released the iPhone 3GS a year or so late than the rest of the world, and now Western companies see Korea as the perfect start point of selling their newest and greatest phone. I mean, it's a market saturated desperate for other brands.

Being in Korea, I've seen Nokia 5800 ads at the local subway (again, a year late), and have even noticed Sony Ericsson selling the X1 here (a few years late that).

I mean, it's great since it allows for more competition, but then it seems the competition was greater with just 3 or 4 local companies than the brands from all across the globe trying to take a pitch.

This Moto for example. The latest example of a smartphone after the X1 and iPhone. Would love to see how things turn out here...

They're releasing too many expensive phones. Release something regular people can afford please, as they are the ones which buy the most. They're the reason Nokia is so powerful and successful.

Can a capacitive device really handle handwriting recognition like they say? I've never heard of capacitive devices that can.
