Lol this is exactly why I pick phones (besides Nexus) that offer the latest updates as quickly as possible, I'm loving Android 5.1.1 LP.

AnonD-383472, 09 Sep 2015I prefer kit Kat's to lollipops... Truth Naah, I'm more fond of Snickers actually.

Otherwise I'd probably go for a Twix :-)

ithehappy, 09 Sep 2015"So it looks like Android device makers are releasing ... morefragmentation doesn't matter if the apps (still) run on all versions (and variants).

IMHO there are more compatibility problems between ARM- and Intel versions than e.g. between JB and/or KK versions. I know quite a few apps which run fine on e.g. Kitkat equipped ARM-devices and won't run on similar Kitkat-equipped Intel-devices.

                    "...the latest iteration."

                    1) Latest doesn't necessarily means best!
                    2) Lolipop isn't really worthwhile on 32-bits devices, these probably run equally well KitkKat of Jelly Bean. The advantages of Lolipop are only apparent on 64-bits devices (and then IMHO only when you have MORE than 3.5GB RAM)
                    3) Majority of apps run as good on JB as on Lolipop so why bother?
                    4) Lolipop looks ugly and behaves bad. Eye-soaring white panels and bland flat icons, the worst combo for AMOled equipped devices coupled with memory-leaks and/or other problems. Unluckily released at the same time as the troublesome SD810 (Cortex A57/53) first generation 64-bits chips.

                    No thanks but thanks.

"So it looks like Android device makers are releasing more and more products running Lollipop from day one, while at the same time updating their older wares to the new OS."

Lol, what a joke. It's not the OEM upgrading their old smartphone. They are selling NEW ones with lollipop. Uff, Android is so fragmented. And good luck if your low or mid range old smartphone to get lollipop update!
