SE is not Nokia or Samsung. I think SE has their own strategy how they can keep customers buying their handsets. From all the phones from the different manufacturers I've tested/used I can say that SE has the most user friendly user interface of them all. Their handsets are simple and easy to use. That's why I'm a SE fan. I think that they will profit a lot more from their new line of handsets this year.

Mobil1, 28 Jan 2010In response to Gamma Sharma: you state that SE: Remem... moreI stand corrected. But my point is that, SE did a lot of R&D in the past and offered new technologies at lesser price than the competition. But it is the opposite not. Nothing new, all cheap at a steeper price products.

Earlier Walkman like W800, W700, W610 had good camera (esp. W610 with similar hardware to K550), but the management decided that the Walkman and the CyberShot Series were "competing" with each other in the market. So, poof... they decided to cut off AF Flash form Walkman series and Walkman player from CyberShot series.

Later came the gimmick Xperia (read as: Xpensivia) of Walkman + CyberShot combination with a price with which a new desktop could be assembled (literally!).

The truth is that the Management of SE didn't plunged the Axe onto there toes, but kicked the Axe front on themselves. They kept on disappointing the loyal SE followers with removed essential features, hefty price tags, buggy software rides and non-existing after sales support and value.

The original reasons for being an SE fan died out slow and steadily. The competition was not responsible for it. It was the fault in the Management of SE and the fact that they underestimated the intelligence of the consumers and the loyal SE fans.

I have a soft conner for SE in my heart but will never buy or recommend it to anyone, with the fear of the Buggy Softwares and after sales. In fact SE phones are not desirable anymore. There is always a major fault in the feature set with all the models eg- even the X10 don't support multitouch and pinch zooming or the buggy-but-advance android v2.5.

P.S. : By the way, 16 Million Color screen don't have any advantage over 262k color at the screen size of 2.2".

      In response to Gamma Sharma:

      you state that SE:

Remember SE totally invented / popularized:
      a) 2MP Camera (K750).
      b) Autofocus (K750).
      c) LED Flash (K750).
      d) Xenon Flash (K790).
      e) Touch Screen (P800).
      f) Accelerometer a.k.a motion sensor (w910).
      g) Sept meter (w580).
      h) Music oriented phone (w800).
      i) Camera oriented phone (k750).
      j) GPS
      k) 3.2MP Camera (K790 and no its not N93).
      l) 5MP (K850).
      j) 8MP (C910 correct me.).
      k) 12MP (Satio, Pixion just happen to be released as a cheaper "me-too" version)
      l) Stylus (P800).
      m) The "Grid View" menu system (no kidding with tab-view of T100).
      n) 262k colour menu (k750).
      o) AM Radio.
      p) Ear Plugs with 3.5" socket.

SE had no innovation in these things that you say SE so called "popularized"

They omitted AF & Flash on just about every mid-range mobile in 2007-late 2008.
The Nokia N91 was released at the same time as the W800, & blew it away.
They STILL use 262K color displays, & lower.
3.5mm port??...LOL They stuck with fast-port until this year.
Stylus & Touch-Screen....Moto already did that.
Sharp made the first camera phone.
AM radio....gotta love that talk radio.

SE has done NOTHING, but build cheaply made plastic, & bug ridden mobiles, but still have the minerals to charge exorbitant amount of money for inferior products, & offer zero support to the consumer.

SE sux...it really is that simple.

Once I heard SE was 4th after LG and ahead for Moto....for 1Q only. Then Moto with the awesome Android phones striked back, and SE is like a sitting duck...

I think that gsmarena is indiscrete and it's not ok towards SE to throw this kind of subjective opinions in front of billion people.
They should've kept it to them selves and let the people draw their own conclusions from the data and official report.
This kind of thing's ain't helping SE for sure.

The thing is actually that SE IS ON THE GOOD TRACK.
Their officials are very firm on that.
They sold more phones despite of reduction in portfolio and low range offering. And average unit price is going up.
If the Satio hadn't got that curse and bad publicity with the software problems, it would be a major succes.
Plus if you count out the restructuring costs, they would be close to positive zero in the last quarter.
And we are yet to se even the first mid range touchscreen phones from them. (which are a major point for other manufacturers).
Dont be too hard on SE.
If anyone, they have the potential to change the game.
Expect less models and selling figures in the future, but better profit and efficient business.

Sorry for quoting the prices in Indian Rup... moreIn developing countries like ours, we dont usually get the offer from network providers of expensive mobiles on 2-3 years contract like O2 or Vodafone. So, the major selling model are as follows:

                      1) Lower class workers = Model under 42$ ( Rs.20000/-) = Status symbol. Nothing else. = 1 in 10 people.

                        Actually 1$ = Rs.46.57/- (poor value I know).

                        Therefore 4k = Rs.4000/- = $85.88/-.

They need to sack their design team and design a phone that doesn't look like a piece of lego. Even their new vivaz touchcreen phone has a rubbish resistive touch screen like the satio, which is the ugliest touchscreen phone on the market. If they want to compete they should be starting from the ground up and giving customers what they want.

I don't think SE relying on X10, Satio or X2 is correct ones. Those phones cost more than $500. Not many people buys 500+ USD phones. If they buy, mostly they uses operator subsidy which may have lower price agreement with SE.

SE should makes good phones for under 400 USD range, not tamagochi-like stuffs. Nokia and Samsung sell a lot in that range.

Are you talking about Rp? Yen?

Sorry for being bias, though if you standardize the price you're talking about in USD, I believe 99% of us (including the Europeans) can figure out the conversion on their own.

Rather, most Americans probably don't know how to convert Euro back to USD. But if you take USD from most advance countries in Europe, or not so advance places in Africa / Asia, most people would still take it over Euros.
