Hi guys, not sure if this is the right thread to ask but I am buying a new phone and can't decide between Huawei mate 7 and Samsung galaxy note 5. What I like about the Mate 7 is big screen, looks awesome, huge battery (curse of smartphones is battery life), dual SIM which I have read can be used as extra storage. But one feature I found unique to huawei mate 7 I haven't seen on other brands is you can make orientation of the menu buttons and dialer keypad to the right which makes it much easier to use on a big screen phone.
My questions are does Huawei have something similar to Samsung kies or smart switch and what is their customer service like? Samsung in Australia offers 24/7 phone support.
Was it easy to transfer data from your old smart phone of a different brand? Some people here are saying you have to connect your huawei mate 7 to your pc and go to huawei website to download the software update. Doesn't your phone have a software update feature you can update your software with wifi?
Cheers, Derek

It doesn't matter what KitKat 4.4.2 firmware you choose (B120, B125, B130, etc.) as long as it is for the Gold, Dual SIM Mate 7 TL10 model.

AnonD-114100, 16 Oct 2015Dear disappointed MT7 user you talked about the" hidden adv... moreDear Afshin4841,
To access hidden option to ensure your data network will ALWAYS stay on 4G/LTE only (will not switch back and forth from 3G and 4G even with very low or no 4G/LTE signal), download 'Advanced Signal Status' (by Coding Creation Tools) app from the Google playstore to your Mate 7 TL10:
Here's the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cc.signalinfo&hl=en
After downloading,
1. Launch/open the app
2. Scroll down to 'Additional Info'
3. Mark checkbox 'I promise I will not blame the developer...'
4. Tap 'OK'
5. Tap 'Phone information'
6. Tap SUB1 (Your 4G/LTE sim should be on SIM tray #1)
7. Scroll down to "Set preferred network type:"
8. Tap the 'drop down/list box' under the 'Set preferred network type'
9. Scroll down the list and choose option# 12 'LTE only'.
(Note: There are 13 possible network setting choices.)
After selecting 'LTE only' option, your data SIM in SIM tray #1 should remain fixed in '4G/LTE only'. You cannot receive calls in SIM #1 while 'LTE only' mode is selected.
This setting will remain in effect even if you turn off/restart your phone.
If you want to change this setting, just repeat steps 1-9 and choose another option.
This 'hidden menu' is useful if you have LTE DATA SIM in Sim tray #1 you use for
internet downloads/browsing and another personal CALL/TEXT SIM in Sim tray #2 you use
for calling and texting only. You can continue downloading at LTE speeds using SIM #1
while still receive calls and text and send calls and text on SIM #2.
This 'hidden menu' is only accessible in Mate 7 TL10 with 4.4.2 KITKAT.
The moment you update your Mate 7 TL10 to 5.1.1 LOLLIPOP, you will no longer be able
to access this menu and you will only have the 4 options below which can be accessed
by 'Settings ---> ...More ---> Mobile network --->Preferred network type':
1. LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto
2. WCDMA/GSM auto
3. WCDMA only
4. GSM only
