Disappointed MT7user, 08 Oct 2015WARNING: Do not upgrade your Mate 7 TL10 (Gold, 3G RAM, dua... moreFor those who upgraded to the OFFICIAL lollipop 5.1.1 (MT7-TL10_Firmware_C900B324_Android 5.1.1_EMUI 3.1) and regretted it because they can no longer set their dual sim phones to '4G LTE only' via Android's hidden 'advanced network settings' menu, here's how to go back to KitKat and regain this feature (which was disabled/locked by Huawei in Lollipop):

WARNING: BACKUP ALL IMPORTANT FILES BEFORE PERFORMING THIS OPERATION. ALL APPS, CONTACTS, MESSAGES, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, FILES, etc. ---EVERYTHING WILL BE ERASED. (Like buying a new phone.)

ALSO, these only work for those who have the TL10/Gold version of Mate 7 (3GB RAM, dual SIM), and running official Lollipop 5.1.1 (C900B324) EMUI 3.1:

REVERTING BACK TO KITKAT (FROM LOLLIPOP):

                Step 1.
Download and Install 'Jazz-TL10 V100R001C900B308 Downgrade Package' from Huawei's Malaysia Website. (Copy 'UPDATE.APP' to 'dload' folder on your SD card, then do 'Local Upgrade'
                Download Link:
                http://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=47724

                Step 2:
After successfully installing downgrade patch in step 1, erase 'UPDATE.APP' in the 'dload' folder of your SD card and replace it with the 'UPDATE.APP' from the LATEST official 4.4.2 KitKat firmware [Huawei Mate 7 (MT7-TL10) Firmware V100R001C00B130_Android 4.4.2_EMUI 3.0], which can be downloaded from Huawei's Malaysia website.
                Download Link:
                http://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=35105

Install the official KitKat firmware as in Step 1 (do 'Local Upgrade'). You will be able to access again Android's advanced 'hidden 'network settings' menu and now have the '4G LTE only' option back.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE BY DOING THIS. IT SUCCEEDED IN MY Mate 7 phone but I cannot guarantee it will succeed in yours. Do at your own risk.

WARNING: Do not upgrade your Mate 7 TL10 (Gold, 3G RAM, dual SIM) to OFFICIAL lollipop 5.1.1 (MT7-TL10_Firmware_C900B324_Android 5.1.1_EMUI 3.1) if you do not want to lose the ability to set data mode/data network to '4G LTE only'.
All android phones have a hidden 'network settings' menu where you can set data mode to '4G LTE only' even if it is not visible in the user interface (Mobile Network Settings - Preferred Network Mode). If '4G LTE only' mode is important to you, DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS LOLLIPOP firmware!
I made the biggest mistake of updating to Lollipop 5.1.1 (C900B324) from KitKat 4.4.2. After the update, access to the hidden android 'advanced network settings' menu has been denied. Permission to this very important android feature has been removed in the C900B324 Lollipop 5.1.1 firmware. It was present before in KitKat. Now I am left to choose 4 modes only:
                      1. 'LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto' which keeps switching back and forth between the very fast LTE and very slow WCDMA, even with moderately strong LTE signal (3 bars)
                      2. 'WCDMA/GSM auto'
                      3. 'WCDMA only' and
                      4. 'GSM only'
Huawei and Samsung should know that DUAL SIM phone users are not well served by this unnecessary restriction: the locking of android's advanced network modes/settings in dual SIM phones. Dual SIM phone users frequently use one SIM for calls and text (2G/3G auto) only and another SIM for data only ('4G LTE only') to maximize download speed while still not sacrificing ability to receive phone calls on the other SIM.
'LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto' is useful for SINGLE SIM phones only because choosing '4G LTE only' mode from the hidden android menu does not allow one to receive phone calls.

Bugs found so far in the official lollipop update:
1: If you choose 'wallpaper changer' apps (a live wallpaper) for your homescreen wallpaper, the translucent title bars in the default 'message/contacts/dialer' app will have a bad irregular color patch (dark irregular shaped color against a white/gray base color).
                      2. Built in wallpaper changing option does not work/does not function correctly.
                      3. Many Gestures don't work as intended.

Other comments: I hate EMUI 3.1 trying to be more and more like Apple's IOS. EMUI 3.1 looks even closer to IOS than did EMUI 3.0. Why can't Huawei be original or at least, just follow Google's material design if Huawei's designers have run out of design ideas? Material design in my Nexus 7 is way much better: more fluid, more beautiful and futuristic than Apple's IOS or any other Android OEM skin that tries to ape Apple's IOS. I am talking about you Huawei, and Lenovo: Stop aping Apple in your Android skins.

Hello guys! I updated to 5.1.1. Overall performance is much smoother, no more stutter while scroling webpages and watching high quality videos, I guess it is because of ART java VM. UI looks a bit more polished. My Antutu benchmark score increased from average of 44500 to 46900. I am very happy with this update. HOW I DID IT: Conect Huawei to PC. Download update from Huawei support Malaisya region to PC, DON'T extract or unzip it, just get into the folder and copy "dload" folder to the internal memory of the phone "download folder", or to your sd card. Then go to setings, sisthem update, and choose to update localy. Thats it.

I'm running the updated lollipop for Huawei Mt7-Tl0, the upgrade is quite impressive, only problem I found is that the dts audio function in settings and in the music player is locked, only adjustable with insertion of headphones, not sure if that affects the quality of sound even though it looks activated locked.

Are all phone functions ok after the update without reset, or is reset mandatory to avoid errors. After the factory reset, are there still errors in phone functions or not anymore (if any were introduced by the manual update). Thanks in advance. I'm currently on 4.4.2 MT7-TL10...B120SP04.

Lollipop is here, its easy to update, just download the file from the link given by gsmarena, put the dload folder in the root directory of sd card, do a local update in the settings, wait for the updateto finish, and do a reset using power+up volume. That's how i updated using the official lollipop release. Im running tl10 version from philippines. Wifi is great, ui is better, playing coc is a great experience. The problem with mate 7 ever since is the charging time... If don't have this phone yet and wanted to get this, i would much rather recommend you buy oppo r7 plus due to its fast charging technology, 64 bit architecture, excellent camera, oled display...
