Latest Samsung Exynos SoC with Mongoose CPU blazes through benchmarks

06 October, 2015
The company's new Mongoose CPU nearly matches the performance of the Apple A9 chip in single-core tests, but beats it in multi-core performance.

Only thing appla has is a marketing department that can get crapping products sold that otherwise would break them so apple investors should really take care of them

Samsung is making their own processors cutting overhead on the cost on 3rd party processor but they can't do it all and stay ahead they need to just let AMD build processor sell them exnos technology that would kill Intel and apple

No Doubt about it. Kyro, Cortex, etc but I never seen CPU called Mongoose/M1, so samsung create his own customize cpu with powerful performance especially about the clockspd to the Galaxy S7 | S7 edge

Agreed. Apple doesn't produce good hardware at all. What processor does iPhone 6s have? Just a dual-core 1.84 gHz. Samsung's S4 has a sronger CPU, 1.9 gHz quad-core. And don't ay that iPhone is more reliable because that just isn't true. I have heard too many stories about how it wasn't working properly. Only some last for 3-4 yrs. and that's just luck.

Vendhar, 03 Jan 2016Apple's CPU custom design in their A9 chip is already next ... moreAnd is that why the Exynos in the Galaxy S6 series has only been beaten by ~5% by the iPAD PRO? Is that why the Exynos 7420 in the Galaxy S6 beat the iPhone 6S SoC by a healthy 20% on processing performance? Well, think again...Apple played catch up on the processor this year.

Apple has always been weak on the processor and strong on the GPU. Yes, the GPU of the iPhone 6S is a lot faster than all other smartphone rivals. The latest exynos is tackling that issue by going balls to the walls with the GPU this time around. Oh, sammy also bumped up the CPU performance so much, that the processor of the iPhone 6S looks like low-mid end range!

Apple's CPU custom design in their A9 chip is already next gen compared to competitors's chipset and CPU released in 2015. Even this moongoose that is meant for phone in post 2016 still lag behind compared to Apple 6s chipset that is released one year before. And it is hilarious that Qualcomm despite being the leader in smartphone SOC industry claimed that 64 bit chip is not possible when Apple already released the iPhone 5s with 64 bit processing and Nvidia already started their project Denver after Tegra 4 was released.

All samsung does is manufacture the chip but apple completely designs it top to bottom and its all there work. Its like samsung is the construction company but apple is the owner and architect all in one so the construction/manufacture just follow the plans laid out to them by the architect and owner they get zero credit for the design. Do you also realize TSMC builds the majority of the cpus for apple on the a9 and they only went to samsung because of the massive demand for the iPhone to keep supplies available. If TSMC could handle all the orders apple would not waste there time with samsung. All test have showed that the TSMC chip on the 16nm has much better battery life and slightly better performance then the crap 14nm base samsung chip. Besides Intel 14nm process dominates either and they are the real leader in silicon production. Samsung should stick to TV's and making garbage operating systems for smart TV's

Apple don't make chips, and nor has ever produced. Apple does not produce anything, others produce for him and most Samsung like this A9. There is a big difference between words "produce" and "assemble". Apple does not produce anything, there is no Apple factory where they produce mobile phones and other devices. There is a company called Foxconn that assemble iPhone phones. There is no Apple factory that products something or ever will. Apple is not going anywhere without Samsung and LG's. Primarily because of screens and chips.

Intel is to Apple because they focus more on single-core performance and IPS (instructions per second) than puting more physical cores with a lot worse IPS onto a single die, which AMD does.

Intel learned their lesson back in their Pentium era. Those days were a mess for them. So they changed their strategy from high-clock speed to less but with more IPS. Then came forth the Core 2 and Core i-series, which AMD never had an answer to since.

Intel is to Apple, AMD is to the rest of the SOC's the android gang uses.

mind you multi core can be utilized even for a single thread application. as long as the os supports it. it isn't as efficient as a multi-threaded program, but can still make a huge difference in the overall performance vs. single core performance alone. that or why does apple waste its time with a dual core processor to begin with. and loved your intel/amd analogy. Mind you i prefer AMD myself, falls under the bang for buck profile which no isheep would ever understand.

but if arm is amd then apple is amd is your analogy? Or did you completely overlook that apples a9 is an arm processor manufactured by samsung in the 14nm process or tmsc in the 16nm process?
