15 February, 2010
Now, how about that - Nokia and Intel shook hands to merge their mobile Linux projects into one. And along came MeeGo. The silly name aside, MeeGo is the blend of Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin...

( to those who said i have never used an android phone)I owned an android phone. The damn cliq. Cool at first but kept crashing even after the firmware update gave it to my girl she loves it, go figure. Android is not for power users. Atleast thats what i got from it. Got me an n900 and i am a happy camper. I can multi task without having worries about my phone crashing. And my old n95 was a work horse. I used it for both work and personal use and it never missed a beat. i don't get it when people say that they crash. It was a rare occasion when it needed a reboot. i guess i got the only good one.

Somehow ... Nokia's lack of any phone showing has gone uncriticised by this site.

I bet if this was M we would not hear the end of it.

I think the future of mobile phones is the way of the PC and Laptops. We buy the Hardware and Install OR Choose the software platform ourself. Darwin's survival of the fittest will come in action, and we wont be stuck to use proprietary solutions.

I'm not sure why Nokia insists on introducing new OS's to an already saturated market. While I agree with many of Android's critics in that it still needs lots of fine tuning, the fact of the matter is that it will own all the other OS's by the of this year or early next year. After using Maemo, I can guarantee that we will never see another Maemo device released. While it might have been a good OS, there will never be the same number of developers for it as iphone OS, or Android. So while it might have been great, Its pretty much a dead OS. Symbian^3 will also die, although much more slowly and likely take Nokia down with it. By mid 2011, Nokia will have lost its world wide dominance to either HTC or Samsung.

The last upgrade was a compass. I have no doubt that the Mactards and iApples will be running to the stores to get their annual brainwashing upgraded.

I wanted Symbian 3 on my Nokia 5800!

The best part of MeeGo and Symbian 3 is the 'QT toolkit', which means developers only write one code which will work on MeeGo and Symbian 3! WOW!

Only problem is that MeeGo and Symbian 3, and WP7 will come out towards the end of the year. Which means Apple will release iPhone OS 4 and I'm sure Google will update Android with some new features. Let the games begin...:D

they should provide upgrades for there own smart phones like E 72 or E 71 ... to symbian 3 :) that would be cooolest thing to do for old customers...
