Apple sued over iOS 9's WiFi Assist feature

24 October, 2015
A Florida-based couple has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, claiming that the iPhone-maker didn't clearly explain how the WiFi Assist feature in iOS 9 affects cellular data consumption. The couple has accused the company of violating California's Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law, as well as of negligent misrepresentation, and is demanding $5 million in damages.

Alien, 24 Oct 2015I believe that having that option by default is one of the ... moreMost, if not all, mobile manufacturers outsource their production to China. I don't think that Apple deserves to be sued for something they won't gain anything from. Look, if your phone no longer shows the WiFi indicator and shows LTE or 4G or 3G or H+ or HSDPA, what does that mean? That you're already using cellular data, right? Given that, it's just but common sense to know that you're being billed cellular data. The couple is obviously after money. $5M in damages? Why were they billed $5M by their telco? Did they lose their house or car or education because of cellular data?

Obviously, they're only after the money hence, the $5M tag price. Although it's a bad default that's on, people should know that whenever you're using cellular data, and you will know that since the wifi logo won't appear anymore, is more expensive than wifi. I just think that this is a stupid lawsuit that's intended only to gain money. Customers should also be responsible enough to know every feature of their phones before using.

I believe that having that option by default is one of the worst settings ever!
Apple deserves to be sued on this one. They do things that are in their benefit or in this case the carrier that gets more money.
Iphone is nothing than just a restristed os + hardware designed and manufactured by other companies. And they ask you a bucket of cash for it.. pfffff
