Haha ridiculously funny, who gonna give a sh*t for blackberry? All the news bout blackberry i just don't give a damn. Especially when they came up with this kinda of material and price range. Blackberry a big time sucka..Seriously..my advice is don't waste your efforts of promoting your new launch product and try any harder to gain any market share that you totally have lost the ability of competing with the leading market brands such as..sammy, huawei, oppo..and etc.

Blackberry is really losing their customers.. The new phones are appealing but way too pricy.. I hope they change their strategy soon else they will have to wind up their business..

A company that values its own OS has taken a major step by making an Android phone. We, In India pay the most for any mobile compared to World market. Blackberry should have used penetration strategy for this device. First gain the Market share and eventually make profits. But their move (pricing) seems suicidal now.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2015what?? easily broken flexible cable???? Though a cable is theoretically a weak point, it is more than likely to outlast the normal life time of the phone. None of all the the different slider phones I have had over the years had cable-issues.

Please tell me any phone that give TOUCH SCREEN +EDGE+KEYBOARD in the same price bracket. Blackberry want to sell loss making device . This is reason for the price. For those who are complaining for them even Blackberry Z3 and Leap are expensive. There are many Chinese brand who will sell you less than $100 + invading privacy smartphone , please buy them

Seems like they don't want to stay in the market anymore with it's delusional pricing...This will kill blackberry much faster than expected.

Because of the price tag, I think this phone would flop. Why can't (previously) popular high-end brand phone makers see the simple equation on how to make their product conspicuous and relevant. I don't see the logic of releasing phones with initially attaching a steep price only to drop the same after 3 months or so because nobody bought them. Why don't they price it the same way they would when dropping the price due to poor sales performance? It's very simple logic. Price the Priv at around US$550 and see how it appeals to consumers. If the consumers patronize it, good. Then be assured that they will be the brand's walking advertisers. The consumer base for the Priv will widen and when a lot of people notice it, a lot will become interested of it. If the sales performance of the Priv is poor with a US$550, then be assured that a US$699 would have been a foolish proposition.

GuestPH, 24 Oct 2015You didn't get my point. Why would RIM price their handset ... moreFirst you're saying it's a mid range phone and now you're comparing it to flagships? It's comparable to a Note 5 in Canada, it switches the spen for a physical keyboard but it has a micro SD card slot (like the Note 4 which I use). I'm intrigued and that's all that matters to RIM at this point.

Slider, keyboard, blackberry hub and calender. Keyboard shortcuts which are brilliant. Keyboard is also trackpad. Blackberry on screen keyboard also. Google play store. Double tap to wake. Sleepmode. 808 chip. Security. Sd card. Huge battery life. Mammoth speakers. What's not to like. I would buy it at the price.

Lots of people are complaining about the price but you are forgetting how much an unlocked iphone costs. Especially the big one. And they are still selling like pancakes, so if RIM does its homework and manages the right ad campaign they might have a chance.

699$ is not a good price but it will come down for sure. If I were RIM, I would go in for the kill from the start by pricing it say 399$. They have a desired product which has not happed to them for long while now and we do not want the BBplaybook story to come through again where they had a great tablet but it was overpriced and had no android. Now android is present. Work on the price and I am sure things will pick up
