New CEO wants to go for niche products I think, so they'll be making a9-like products with flagship specs.

HTC make small phones, not everyone wants small phones, I have a 6.4" Sony Z Ultra and if HTC made something similar they would increase sales but they insist on making small boring devices which will send them ultimately into extinction.

I work in a phone shop and I can tell you now in a month we will be lucky to have people coming in asking for a HTC more than twice. but we sale like 15-20 smartphones a day. about 60% of them are Samsung, 30% are Iphones and the other 10% are Sony, Huawei, and everything else.

its very disappointing though..... but i will continue to buy htc phones in future.. till htc exists...,
the m series.. the best looking handsets in the market today are much much better than the glass laden and fragile galaxy s6 and edge series. God forbid, even someday if htc shuts down, i would switch to iphone, coz i see iphones the direct competitor to htc m series, in terms of durability, quality, etc. instead of s6 edge and note 5 which has no quality no perfection.

            (one m8 user here)

I like HTC phones but its hard to understand why they keep pushing for specifications what have little do with daily use of the phone. For god sake will someone do a phone once wich is smaller and i can use it as phone. I dont mean Z5 compact which is fat and plastic but nice one. To be honest One+ X nailed it now but only thing missing is fingerprint sensor...

just die htc you have had already charged enough for your pathetic devices... no one interested in buying a cheap product for a price as high as the premium brands of other companies.... same thing has happened to BB when they overcharged their devices while other were growing their market shares offering good products at a lower price...

this was very predictable. The way Sony and HTC put price tags on there phones, one of them had to go out of business, LG learned the lesson hard way and now decreasing there prices very fast. see the problem is very simple, hauwei Lenovo and all other major Chinese brands are giving customers 80% of what you are making 100% with 30% price of what you are charging 200%.
I mean that's the only case here, HTC beautiful sets, but not every one can afford it, Honor 7 with 20 mp camera every one can buy it, Lenovo zuk z1 anyone can buy it. now look at Huawei they are slowly and gradually increasing there flag ship prices, the new mate s has a very high price tag, but people might actually consider buying it, because the brand name is becoming more popular, but they had humble beginning , but HTC and sony I don't remember single handset with moderate price.
Sony also loosing its ground, it has marvelous looking handsets, but I don't see them any one holding on day to day business, only in the outlets, why ? they put hefty amount on even there midrange line. for example the new C ultra, which is of more price of honor 7 or zuk1 but both handsets can beat this C ultra on any base, be it screen, gaming, battery.
I do feel sorry for the people working with HTC, as I saw some lay outs from the place I am working and its just heartbreaking, still wish you good luck and expect you to learn from your mistakes., Looking at A9 your again forcing yourself to loss....

When you make a 20k rs device and put 720p screen with 250 ppi on 5.5 inch device it looks horrible because camera can't do anything if display is horrible.

shell very loss many big money dollar because many car EV no fuel

And even A9 is not going to help HTC to get out of this crisis... Thr problem is they are offering midranged specs phones at premium phones cost... This is sick... HTC u are no more brand value in the market that you are offering high cost phones to customers... we are getting the same specs phones in 50% lesser cost from other brands... then why people will buy your prodicts...?? HTC One M9 was the main reason for this situation... They might start selling it as freebies after some days...

I've never owned an HTC device, but it would be a shame to see another large company go down. HTC needs better R&D, their offerings aren't bad, but they don't "pop". Marketing needs to be upped, they need to not release tech at the same stage as the competitors, they need to think ahead. Hopefully they pull out of this slump.

Just hoping for the return of the One M series (I mean the high-end phones). The One A series' premium pricing with midrange specs won't help HTC's situation that much in regaining their loss. The One M series gave the people much hype. At least make the possible A series a continuation of the M series. Also, more midrangers pls :)

HTC stop being conceited and stop drinking!

Underpowered, underspecced but overpriced. That's enough to explain why HTC failed. They should change their concept. Even Samsung with their Samsung Galaxy S6 not too success because they made crucial mistakes despite good looking design.
