My Nokia 5230 shows that there is a system error when I switch on or when I attempt to select the 'Date and Time' Settings Option. The clock only shows the arrows ably revolving but does not show figures or hour marks. What should I do?

Hey Everybody. First time poster... wanted to let you all know something that may be important to realize (and is NOT clearly stated on the T-Mobile site, or the Nokia site concerning T-Mobile).
I have been awaiting the affordable 5230 (Nuron), and my girl at my regular T-Mobile store called me in today to try out their just-in demo phone. It is EXACTLY what has been advertised, super cute, really responsive, and a crazy, crazy value!! Though the plastic screen is not "slippery", and fingers hang up pretty badly when sliding across the display. But simply touching to type or select is just fine.

However, there is one MAJOR thing I guess I should make sure everyone realizes. I was all ready to buy it and asked if I could start off with the limited web2go plan ($9.99 a month), then if I decide I need more web control, change up to the full $25 a month data plan later. Come to find out, there is NO OPTION for a full data plan on this phone (through T-Mobile, anyway). The $10 web2go plan is the only one offered. And that is NOT required for using OviMaps (as commented on earlier in this thread). But this information immediately made this phone a no-go for me. I tried to log on to several major, common websites (like CNN), and the web2go browser is limited to mobile-view-only sites (when they're available). There is no way around this unfortunate limitation. :-(

So if you just need VERY basic browsing, and mobile-view-only is okay for you with things like facebook, twitter, etc., then this is a great phone for basic use.
But if you need true web-browsing, look elsewhere. Like the new Cliq XT which I also played with and was TOTALLY impressed with! Very, very solid, nice phone with updated features. Love it.

I actually have the Nokia 5230. Good points are audio call quality. Good camera lens. VGA video recording at 30fps. Virtual keyboard responsive and accurate. Handwriting recocnition software works very well. GPS is sensitive works better with google maps than ovi maps.

Bad points is the built in Nokia web browser is shit. Font looks shit and kinetic scrolling in browser is crap. Micro sd card is difficult to remove.
        fewer apps than iPhone.
Not as good as the iPhone but at a third of the price better value for money.

[deleted post]Your saying that by Nokia diversifying the smartphone market, they are 'giving away' their phones. Honestly, think about it. This is a relatively untapped market that Nokia is venturing into and has also with the Nokia 5530. There is some risk in this whole ordeal but chances are Nokia is going to be successful in this market and rake in the big bucks. Since this phone has 3G, it is going to way more successful then the 5530 and will allow more and more people to have smartphones. India has just launched 3G so a huge market is untapped for 3G phones and this phone is a step in the right direction. All you Nokia haters watch out cause Nokia is going to take the big bucks in the end with the highly diversified range with phones catering for each and every person and the creation and exapnsion of a new market. The 5800 and N97 will soon get replaced with more powerful Nokia phones, further increasing the big bucks Nokia is receiving. All the others out there should watch out. I think Nokia will come back into the high-end market with a bang, who knows, the Snapdragon processors Nokia receives may just be dual core ;).

nokia is not lagging behind, they just make mobile phones that would suit every walk of life.. and N97 is way better than iphone..in my most humble opinion.

some people seem to e thinking that nokia is rotten, and one says that this phone should have been released 10 years ago!!
'if nokia released this 10 years ago, it would have been the bestseling phone during it's time, anybody agree with me?
'using common sense, the capabilities of this phone compared to those phones 10 years ago is too advanced.

Yes, I meant it personally. Regular commentators and iPhone fans alike are getting tired of illogical comments like this.
This is going to be great for Tmobile. Budget smartphone that can replace your stand-alone GPS just sounds like a hit.
