08 March, 2010
LG Panther is the codename for the company's first Windows Phone 7 smartphone. It hits the second category devices defined by Microsoft, because of its sliding QWERTY keyboard and it's rumored to ...

Bill, 09 Mar 2010That's the point though, what you said in your last sentenc... moreyes, all that tech is good, but the bad thing is, we get too attached to them and rely immensely on it. to tell you the truth i will not get a phone with too much in it, like my credit card info, you could imagine what would happen if its stolen or lost.

technology is good as well as bad, playing their own devil's advocate.

Bill, 09 Mar 2010Either way i'm not impressed with this design and specs, ye... moreThere is no appealing any market by any country by releasing a phone with a NORMAL 5MP camera. You don't know anything about the sensors or focal lenses, nothing. All you armchair photographers do is look at the number 5 and immediately say "Fail". These companies don't make a phone to say "Our cameraz is better than yourz" or to appeal to camera nerds and photogrophiles. It's time you realized this.

Had this been 6.5, this would have been a dull 528mhz phone, and the camera is superdull. LG's camera quality are kow to rival SE and Nokia, so why not push this up to 12mp instead of appeasing the American market which is still stuck with the puny 5mp sensor?

"As the rumor goes LG Panther is scheduled to launch in September, which is quite early given the Microsoft statement for a holiday season release."

Well, and so what, if the phone arrives in September with WinMob 6.5, and later gets an update.... Sure it could possibly be the first WinPhone 7 series ready phone... that does not mean it will be a phone released with WinPhone 7 series, at the first day.

Wow, 08 Mar 2010are you hopped up on Pixie sticks? WHO NEEDS 12MP?! This is... moreThat's the point though, what you said in your last sentence. It's not a phone anymore, it's a desktop/laptop/netbook/mp3 player/camcorder/digitial camera/mini projector/handheld games machine/satellite navigation unit with 3d maps/Augmented reality social networking tool/oyster travel card/credit card paying device and pretty soon a high definition television, not one which relies heavily on network 3G coverage.

The times change, and people/consumers expect more from these big companies who want a slice of the future OS which will dictate the way we use that thing in our suit pockets we used only for talking and texting.

I was lucky enough to grab a quick try of the Windows 7 Mobile phone they were demoing at MWC and was impressed (even though it did crash once on the Beta code). Even though i have an iPhone I will be looking to get a W7M handset on launch (I'll be looking at HTC stuff though as I think this LG design is awful).

I would say all you have to do is look at the figures if I am wrong then the figures are
Lies if I were to ask anyone in the western world to take there mobile phone out I can
Guarantee everywhere you would see an ipone. Now I am not saying that just because it’s popular it the best but it has something.

Microsoft have sat down and said how can we reinvent the wheel a bit here and also how can we get a piece of that huge smart phone pie. Judging by the demonstration videos that I have seen I think they have done a brilliant job. They also have realised that not everyone wants to go around with the same shape and style of phone some like keyboards and others like touch screen. But when I say uniformity I mean no matter the style of phone you have if you run windows 7 you should all be able to do the same things because all the phones have the same engine. I personally look forward to Htc handset of windows mobile 7

All these different OS reminds me of the early days of computers when you would have computer builders springing up all over the place and fighting it out. I can’t wait to see who wins the battle. My money will be on OS system that is a closed source not an open one.

Claudia- think about that again. If every handset give you the same experience there will be no real sell and rivalry, after that all producers end with only one phone in shops! Look at HTC and samsung, they create differente gui for winmo, and that go to new ideas, differente design of handsets, new technology etc. Everyone try improve winmobile with new hardware and software and that create cool handset even if they still are imperfect. Ppl dont like when everyone have the same stuff that they, rivalry create new ideas, technology and design. When one producer create one device its good, but when other start that policy its very bad for users. Its better that user buy every year new phone with new stuff inside than for 10years sit with one old handset. And about win7- stupid move microsoft, using the same move like others(apple style) is not good, better create new real open system with real multitasking for professional users than create another apple system, and if pro os is too complicated- we have HTCsense and touchWiz for that :-)
