Everything else you said is objective and based on personal preference.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2015So samsung has ignored note 3 completely, no 5.1 lollipop, ... moreDude that phone came out late 2013, I wouldn't wait two years to get the latest official update without flashing, let alone three years. It's unfortunate because it still has some killer specs.

AnonD-428442, 16 Nov 2015There is really no point to buy any other Android devices, ... moreIf you consider that the only important part of the phone is latest OS then you are right, but I would say it is much more than that. Nexus hardware is appalling.. at the best it is mid ranger like SGS A5, which costs actually less and have more appealing design and features than NEXUS. NEXUS meant to be cheap and straightforward android experience, but currently it pretends to be flagship with substandard hardware and cheap design. I would rather use A5 on Android 4.4.4. (even though 5.0.1 is already available), than use NEXUS which is more expensive and worse phone, but with the latest vanilla Android version. Conclusion - everyone values are different and not everyone are concerned (at all) if the latest android version is available on their phone.

AnonD-428442, 16 Nov 2015There is really no point to buy any other Android devices, ... moreWell, there is the matter of camera and phone speed..
You get what you pay for, I guess.
Is not like the current flagship are not good without the update anyway.

AnonD-296165, 16 Nov 2015So S6, which is the flagship gets it a full month later jus... moreThere is really no point to buy any other Android devices, let alone pay a premium, over a Nexus, unless it is not available in your country. The pricing that companies like Samsung and Sony charge for their phones is ridiculous. Mobile hardware for the last year or two have been good enough across all OEMs that what matters is software. No point in paying extra for less support vs the Nexus.

aceofgenerations, 16 Nov 2015I wish Android manufacturers or heck even Google would supp... moreAndroid OEMs generate revenues from selling new hardware. They have zero incentive to support/update older devices.
Google generates revenues from ads. There's really little incentive for Google to do anything (Android is open source and free) as regardless what the OEMs do, the users will still use Google search and services.
The only "incentive" I could think of is if the legal system hold Google and/or any of the OEMs liable for un-patched products if there's a security vulnerability. Sometimes money is what make things go round and round.

maybe its better for Sammy to take its time in updating software, than to roll out four software in two months whilst trying to fight bugs the IOS way
