Its time the Google to write his own OS for desktop. Based on Linux. No monopoly ! I don't use anything except Android Studio or NeatBeans. Or just Google can purchase great OS like Solaris.

I laugh at all the speculation here. The real reason why Microsoft doesn't want to support an Android runtime environment, is because developers could just develop for Android only, and then their apps would not only work with Android devices, but Windows 10 mobile devices as well as BlackBerry devices. That is the real reason why Microsoft dropped the Android environment.

WP is perfect for AMOled screens with all those black ellements, which one reason why their phones have good battery-life despite the small batteries on some devices. I can tell you now what will happen with WP when they run iOS apps.... battery life will completely suck and this will cause a bad rep for Microsoft.
But as far as I care M$ deserve to burn after what they did to Nokia and their employees.

I use BT a lot because Wifi-direct sucks as bad as BT in Android. The only way to make wifi-direct properly work is by using a tool like Superbeam on all Android devices.

Can you have quick settings in the notification drawer?
Can you multitask?
Can you change the default apps to the ones you prefer? (I hear you can change the keyboard now, yay!)
Can you side load apps?
These are things that would have influenced by usage significantly in just the last couple hours if they weren't available to the same extent they are in android.

i dont agree with you..yes IOS apps are optimized for apple devices but..using project islandwood IOS apps will be optimized for windows devices because ios codes will be converted to run windows devices.:)

I want to hate Microsoft for this move (mainly because I'm a massive android/nexus fanboi) but I honestly understand why they're doing it this way. Apple does have the easier store to port from and the quality of ios apps makes the apple store the smart choice.

microsoft should have a hybrid filesystem for apps
desktop application = x64 ntfs
cloud applications = h64 hybrid ext+ntfs
then in future windows may have 3 app stores
windows app store, google play store, ios app store

The reason why android become famous OS is olden and new application compatibility and easy developing unlike symbian,windows and tisen.
Due to failure of microsoft project it may lost market in 2016.
