symbian is good only for non touchscreen phones .

as long as nokia uses symbian all their touch phones will fail . like the n97 which was the biggest scam nokia pulled on its loyal fans including me . i left nokia after the n97 .. it was the worst phne ever!!!used the hd2/nexus /iphone and now am on the milestone which is good enough till winmo7 /new iphone releases

If the Mayan calendar is right, this won't matter at all. If the world does continue past 2012, this might be something to note. Nokia's suit against Apple filed back in October claims that the latter firm infringed on 10 of the former company's patents. Apple countersued in December charging that Nokia had infringed on 13 of it's patents. Apple later cut down the complaint to include 9 patents, but Nokia countersued the countersuit by filing another complaint-also in December. Reuters says that the Finnish based tech firm is seeking $1.36 billion from Apple. The report also said that a trial will start between the two firms in the middle of 2012 and complex patent issues like the ones involved could take years to unravel in court. We would not be surprised to see a settlement hammered out between Apple and Nokia. Last week as we reported, Apple sued HTC claiming that the Taiwanese based company infringed on 20 of it's patents relating to multitouch functionality on smartphones. The U.S. International Trade Commission is investigating both companies based on the complaint. All of this legal action is par for the course in the industry, but is tiresome and a waste of time and resources.

Don't talk crap about nokia here..
They had the largest share in mobile world in the previous years(2008-2009)..
Nd they r olso producing gud handsets..

For a budget handset, this device is near to perfection..
u get symbian 3, a larger screen (larger than any phone in this budget), a qwerty keyboard(a better one than corby pro i think + a better processor than any other phone in it's competetive cheap segment..

                    so for itz price..
the phone is a serious hit on every other company..

Nick, 13 Mar 2010Sorry guys but can someone tell me what's the point in maki... more> "Hate to say it but man Samsung is giving us something new everyday and these pros . . . ?"

Yes, pretty screens, but every time I look at a Samsung in the store, it's ALL plastic, with no metal anywhere, the screen is nice, but it has an OS I have no familiarity with, and I many times see people complain about Samsung because they don't update their firmware. Once you buy their phone, don't expect any support. Same with LG phones.

I'm waiting for a Nokia Symbian 3 device, but I'm getting the itch to upgrade now.

All those writing off Nokia, is a laugh. They have such huge mindshare, and with Symbian 3 catching up to all the touch screen devices, that mindshare will grow.

if this has the same processor as the N97... I'll pass. Too late in the game to be releasing old technology in a world running 1Ghz handsets !

I'm a Nokia fan... but not impressed with the performance of the handsets lately.

i have been always a big fan of nokia but i can tell u that apple know how to polish their products better than anybody else, it's just their greediness that is what always comes back to bite them; and now android devices from htc and motorola will take the first spot.
on the other hand nokia are the best in making affordable phones with all functionalities on-board, and if this baby comes with wifi & gps and with the price suggested here it will simply eat the market!

It seems that nokia is producing 5800 in different cases!
The funny thing is that people think it is a new phone!
Some one here explain to me what is new in symbian? Clearly nothing!

This is de greatest affordable phone ever made by nokia. I was planning on buying a new 5800 but this has really squashed that idea... I've alway wanted an n97 but couldn't afford one. Dis is de perfect substitute and will be available at an affordable price. Nokia truly does know how to give customers wat they want when they need it. Will be picking this phone up as soon as its available in south africa i.e and knowing nokia it shouldn't take a long time to reach stop unlike useless companies like sonyericsson.
