You're welcome Android fans. Apple is going to make waterproof phone and future-proofing memory size common. You no longer have to choose ugly ass rugged phone for waterproof or install apps killer just so you can open more than 5 apps.

I would love this. The average iphone buyer isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, hence they will end up chucking their phones in the water to show off...it'd be rather funny...go ahead apple, "innovate" this waterproofing that's so "unique"!

I usually don't comment on news posts like this, but after seeing the immature (and frankly, biased) trash talk from both Android and Apple fans, I feel the need to express my opinion here.
Let's get something straight: Apple hardware, even though they charge way more than it's worth, beats Android hardware. Handily. It's to be expected: Apple can optimize their firmware far better than any Android OEM can, simply because Android at its core is designed to run on anything, and provide a similar experience across devices of all kinds. Note that I'm not saying it's better in raw power, I'm saying it's better in efficiency, which is obviously what matters. I say all of this as an Android power user who's first experience with any smart device was an iPod Touch 3rd gen (which I loved). What really grinds my (and most other Apple haters) gears is iOS: the thing is so damn RESTRICTIVE. I tried to use an iOS device recently, and while the UX was nice, I simply could not function with it, since it didn't offer even half the functionality of an Android. It doesn't even have a file manager! Granted, I am a bit of a special case, as I feel constrained even on an Android if it isn't rooted, but it isn't nearly as bad as with iOS. If there was a device with Apple's hardware, and an OS as open as Android, I (and many other Android geeks I know) would switch over in a heartbeat. In fact, even on the Linux side of things, a Mac running a Linux distro is a very popular combo.
Another thing that pisses us off is when Apple adopts technology and features that every other smartphone (not just Android) has had for years, and then hails it as a great innovation: Apple Pay is a prime example. Yes, Apple DOES have a history of innovation, but it's not nearly as prolific as they make it out to be; and worse, you have legions of iFans who've never used anything else boast loudly about all the cool, "new" things their phones can do. That's not Apple's fault, of course, but it's still incredibly annoying. Unfortunately, Android fans are arguably worse, since they are the ones who always try to instigate a flame war, going out of their way to do so, even on sites that are targeted at Apple fans. I didn't believe it at first, but I started seeing the evidence for myself once it was pointed out; to this day, I can't help but wince when I see provocations like the ones in this comment section.
                  /end rant
Now, so as to preserve some semblance of being on-topic, coming to the rumored upgrades: I think they're a great thing. Waterproofing is always welcome, and 3 GB of RAM seems like a good idea, seeing as smartphones look like they're trying to replace consoles and laptops (never gonna happen, but that's another discussion).

Fair enough, I doubt they are going to go to 3gb myself, but I wouldn't say it's from lack of innovation. I thinks Apples record as far as innovation is concerned speaks for itself.

Not to say that record is as great as Apple themselves would have you believe. But good none the less.
