If they eventually decide to sell off the mobile division, they should look to Google for potential buyer at some exorbitant value

hiari refuted the perception, clearly saying that there are no plans to sell the company's mobile division. Reportedly, Sony might continue restructuring its business and cut production costs to restore profit margins.
When asked to comment on recent rumors suggesting Sony's entrance in smartphone chipset market next year, Hirai simply rejected the rumors, saying the Japanese company isn't planning to come up with a in-house mobile SoC.
for these two paragrah i have to say this .... first sony is losing quality atleast here in colombia their products doesnt meet QA. WATER PROOF DEVICES that are as fragile than any other if we put them in water..happened to a friend of mine fortunately got it exchnaged by his cell companie after fighting long with them...im talking about a sony z3......in the other hand i have another friend of mine using an experia z2 wich had ramdon restarts and clearing all user data he had to fight too in order to get a replacement and after a few months second one got the same....sold his device purchased a z3 too but this later had issues with overheating and his end was days ago after being charged for 2 hours from 0-100 when he tried to turn it on it didt happend just died ..now he is fighting in order to get a replacement... waoooo this is terrible ....if we talk about camera ..sony is a mobile sensor maker and their mobile cameras should have ever been the best..they have always failed even with 20 mpx camera and large sensors .... my 13 mpx G2 DOES better pics .... only one recognize by a camera reviewers is the z5 wich is doing fairly good.... battery is fine with them .... but just that

for me, cut price for high end smartphone because it's too pricey. tackle overheating problems, get bigger capacity battery. i though z5 premium packed with 4100 mah or more but disappointed me more for 3430 mah only. z5 should have 3500-4000 mah of battery and make it 5.5 inch.

Lol a lot can happen within a year Sony, I still think you'll end up selling your mobile division away especially if the Z5 series fails to turn in any substantial or meaningful profits.

Nokia can tell you what happens with that move!

One thing we do not know is how much money Sony makes from media playing on their phones, and whether the lack of a phone product would affect their other divisions.

I won't be surprised next year Sony will be owned by either one of the big China manufacturer. Huawei, Xiaomi and Meizu should be monitoring the situation by now. Just look at what happened to Motorola.
