Please could someone please comment: Is browsing with opera mobile 10 on N97 almost as good as browsing on the N900.I'm considering buying one of the two phones. I browse a lot on phone. I know N900 has superior browsing but I like N97 because its much more mainstream and has wider application and games available. So I'm thinking if browsing on N97 with opera mobile 10 is almost as good as N900, maybe I should just go for it. In other words, what can you do on the Internet with an N900 that you can't do on N97 using opera mobile 10.

this thing is the bomb! I was getting ready to sell my 2 week old okia 5230 because of the lousy browser experience i had with it. First of all, the native s60 browser does a very poor job:if you want to have some buttons at your disposal, you loose one third of the screen and if you go fullscreen you have no more info on if the page is loading or if you made a missclick or what... Not to mention the fact the flip scrolling is too slow and it has almost no way to compress data. That last one is no biggie if you have a flat out data plan like me, but it sucks when you don't have 3g data coverage and you have to wait a lot just to get a time-out error. Other browsers out there like skyfire have their own swts of flaws. While skyfire can load flash videos in the browser window, it is painfully slow, at least on my phone, it has a clumsy bookmark system and it too is data hungry. All other java based browsers out there were simply unusable. In cotrast, opera mobile is fast boot up, fast to load pages, works great even without 3g coverage, as it isn't that data hungry. It haa great scrolling speed, great touch response (the native symbian browser is, i guess, too much for the small amount of ram and slow processor of this platform, so the system usually slows down or even closes the browser in order to maintain stability;this results in the browser not completing all the actions yiu want it to do,even if you get haptic feedback for a click. This hasn't happened with opera mobile yet). Other pluses are the wah it handles drop down lists in browsing and the single click to zoom in on text as opposed to the double click on other browsers. Plus other browsers don't disable hyperlink clicking when zooming in, so when you have a clutter of small links and want to zoom in to select one, it's very easy to click one of the links by mistake and in skyfire that's particularly frustrating because it has no stop button....wtf? Anyway, if any of you are thinking of using a new browser for you phone, don't think about it, just get opera. In my opinion it can give apple's safari browser a run for it's money on speed without 3g and general user interface. And i haven't even told you the best part: it's absolutely and completely free!

The keyboard still sucks. Looks like the "select text" for copy and paste works better.

Used Mini 5 on my N95 all day, just switched back to 4.2. It's faster, smother, defaults to predictive text, and displays images better. The only things I liked better about 5 is tabbed browsing and the ability to save images.

I am just wondering, how will they make money or how do they make money besides donations? Ads on their websites? But what about their products?

Opera mini 4.2 is still the best option for non touchscreen phones with small displays and limited memory.

I have been holding off upgrading the Internet browser on my main PC, internet explorer 8 has never let me down, but i must say that it has finally been retired - not for doing any wrong but because Opers wors so well on my Xperia X1 I have decided to go full hog and can now sync both versions (PC and WinMo)

IMO Opera is great! Im not a fan of the iPhone and I feel sorry for all you yuppies who are stuck with Safari and really hope that MS never get so tight with App Applications in their future Windows Phone 7 marketplace.
