steve jobs: "we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas" - dont believe it? its on youtube hear it for yourself, this link direct to the video --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0DUg63lqU ,
if the link doesnt work then search 'steve jobs great artists steal'........ this comment comes straight from the mans mouth.
its a shame that HTC is being used as a proxy between apple and google, well i hope the patents apple are claiming for turn out to be void, especially when most the patents are software based and htc being a hardware partner.
HTC has been the first to achieve many innovations:
"In 2002 as the first color touchscreen smartphone in the industry. If you ever owned a Compaq iPAQ, Treo 650, O2 XDA or Orange SPV, you owned an HTC."
"in June of 2007 by launching the HTC Touch — the first finger-friendly touchscreen smartphone."
apple have applied for patents of which many innovators have previously created, this does NOT mean they were the first or own that particular technology/innovation.
cmon apple why be unfair, if HTC applied for patents for half its innovations then there probably would be no existence of the iphone. the reason they didnt is because it is actually healthy to have a little competition and also allows consumers to have the right to choose for themselves.
to think i was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the iphone 4g - news of this has put me off totally - yes thats right, i was actually considering an iphone as my nextphone....but since apple is corporation which is trying to generate an unfair monopoly. thinking about it apple products are insanely restricted i would like the freedom to control my device to how i want, and yes people say you can jailbreak - thats not the point , it should be like that in the first place performing a jailbreak would only be voiding warranties, i for one dont need the hassle, well i think i will wait for the WP7 to come out and the supposedly leaked HTC HD3 - which sounds amazing............
i will leave you all to decide on what apple/ steve jobs are like after watching the video.

HTC all the innovation of a photocopier.
That's all they can do, make cheap copies of the phones others ask them to make.
Then do a half baked job and leave it to XDA developers to clean up their half finished mess.
Pink camera's, poor graphics on good hardware.
They really are one of the most hopeless cheap Taiwanese phone cloners.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2010The 20 patents that Apple are suing HTC over, which this ar... more"HTC has always copied, a company asks them to make a phone and as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow HTC will follow on with their own version of the phone with the HTC brand."
--> what company hv they copied? they were the 1st to hv android and winmo - which is basically the only oses they use.
"The latest example Google Nexus One, rebadged and re-released as the HTC Desire."
--> htc makes the google nexus 1. if they r copying any1, its themselves, so it doesnt count. also there r a few differences between the 2 (altho minimal) nexus 1 is only available in certain places and it doesnt hv the following which r on the htc desire:
- ui on top of android 2.1 os
- optical trackball
- dolby sound enhancement
- 576mb ram
- d1 30fps video recording
- 2592x1944 cam (both r 5mpx but the desire capture more pixels)
- as good of a battery life
so there r slight improvements over the nexus 1.
"They've been doing this for YEARS, NONE of their phones are original."
--> u dont know what ur talking about
- htc advantage - 1st phone with accelerometer and magnetically attachable/detachable keyboard
- htc dream/g1 - 1st android phone
- htc /02 xphone - 1st winmo phone. (identical to qrek 8080, 7070 and imate smartphone)
- htc legend - 1st phone with optical trackball
- htc max - first 4g /wimax phone
pls stop posting that htc copies others

Henry, 20 Mar 2010What is Apple's problem? First it was nokia, now htc. I won... moreapple is frustrated with the mobile phone market cos they dont hv much marketshare and other phones r coming out with better features than they hv which hurts their profits. look at all the markets apple is in. in the computer market u basically hv 2 choices: windows or mac (linux is very rare to find and few ppl will choose it). music player market: mostly ipod. so when they come to a market which has several companies using the same/similar technologies as each other and is highly competitive, they cant handle the fact that they cant rip off the consumer - which is what apple is best at doing. they even market the ipad as hving an "unbelievable" price. well look at the price to make each ipad and sale price:
model | cost to make | sale price
16gb..........$229...........$499
16gb 3g.......$257...........$629
32gb..........$258...........$599
32gb 3g.......$287...........$729
64gb..........$317...........$699
64gb 3g.......$346...........$829
its probably a similar situation with the iphone but the iphone is carrier subsidized. if u add up the cost of an iphone 3g plan for the 2yrs, ull notice its v costly. the less demand for the iphone tho, the less willing the carrier is to subsidize that phone, so apple want other companies to fail or not hv any of the features they hv on the iphone. also notice that the 32gb ipad costs the equivalent of the original 8gb iphone - which presumably cost a lot less to make than an ipad, so u can imagine how much profit they r making on iphones. true apple also hv to pay for design and "innovation" (as they call it) but those r prices per unit. they wud be a lot cheaper when bought in huge quantities which apple does.
so for apple to continue enjoying ridiculous profits, they must make sure other companies fear them or otherwise get sued so that other phone makers wont include the (very limited) specs that apple phones hv.

Apple sues HTC because of "stealing" multitouch technology... Well, i think thats not something you can really have a patent for... When the first plane got invented the inventors didn't sue everybody who produced a product which went in the air somehow! Multitouch is a functionality of those capacitive touchscreens, so as long as apple doesn't have a patent for those screens, they cannot make any Smartphoneproducer use singletouch for the rest of time, that like forbidding other carcompanies to use wheels for their cars!!!

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2010You reckon?
HTC has never innovated anything, they just ... more"HTC has never innovated anything, they just copy stuff that people ask them too."
--> lies. 1st android phone, 1st winmo phone, 1st winmo phone with multitouch, 1st phone with accelerometer, only phone with magnetically attachable/detachable keyboard, 1st phone that decreases volume of ringtone as ur picking up ur phone...
"O2, iMate, SonyEricsson (learnt their lesson after HTC ripped off the X1)"
--> htc build all those models as well as dopod, t-mobile, and qtek. they market themselves under different names in different regions but o2 and imate were htc brands or produced by htc (imate and o2 eventually split from htc tho). they also built the at&t tilt2. htc was also asked by se to build the x1. which vaguely resembled a model they already had on the market called tytn and tytn ii and the touch pro beat the se x1 to the market but that was essentially the touch diamond with a qwerty keyboard.
"Google, Microsoft etc send them the plans and HTC just put them together."
--> yes, htc was chosen by microsoft to market winmo and google also hv worked closely with htc not just for the 1st android phone but also for nexus 1. and wat u say isnt strictly true since htc also make a custom ui for both oses. they were among the first to cover the ugly and unfriendly winmo os with a ui (they called it touchflo, now its sense ui)
"They've got nothing to defend themselves with."
--> what is apple even accusing htc of copying? most of the stuff on the iphone was available on numerous phones b4 it. and if wat u say is true that htc only produces the os/ideas of winmo and android, then apple shud be suing microsoft and android not htc. ur logic is flawed.
"If HTC think companies like Microsoft and Google care about what happens to one of their contractors, they are in for a big shock when they go find someone else to be their photocopier."
--> they r the largest manufacturer of winmo and android phones at the moment. furthermore, they either own or hv different names for other companies which also manufacture winmo and/or android. also they r not photocopying if they r the first to release handsets that run the os.
pls dont hate htc wen u hv no obvious reason to.

[deleted post]The 20 patents that Apple are suing HTC over, which this article is about have nothing whatsoever to do with multitouch.
HTC has always copied, a company asks them to make a phone and as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow HTC will follow on with their own version of the phone with the HTC brand.
The latest example Google Nexus One, rebadged and re-released as the HTC Desire.
They've been doing this for YEARS, NONE of their phones are original.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2010looks like you hate everything apple no prob, i did not say... more"i did not say apple invented everything they pay for what they use"
--> not true thats y nokia wanted to sue apple over iphone.
"they did not steel the things on the i phone, its there idears being stolan for other phones"
--> the only new feature apple brought to phones that they did not already have was multitouch. everything else was not their idea as u falsely claim.
- slide to unlock - neonode
- flick finger to scroll thru menu - neonode
- ambient light sensor for display brightness - palm
- onscreen keyboard - palm
- capacitive touchscreen - lg
- accelerometer - htc (but used for scrolling thru pages on htc advantage no auto rotate, some digitial cameras also had accelerometer for auto rotate)
- first cell phone - motorola
- the name iphone - from a company which had an internet phone, hence the name iphone. company was called: vocaltec.
- apps for a phone were available for download thru the internet ages b4 the appstore. and even then hackers who had the jailbreak had the apps b4 apple came up with it so its not their invention
so what feature is left that apple introduced to us on the iphone? what was so revolutionary about it (like they claimed)? also i remember steve jobs said that iphone was at least 5yrs ahead of the competition yet it lacked features even the simplest of phones had such as video recording, useful bluetooth, copy and paste, mms, sms forwarding, multitasking (which it still lacks)... and if the iphone was truly 5yrs ahead of the competition y did they release a new phone just 1yr afterwards?
"as for the price the n95 was sold for more then the first iphone, and the iphone was also an ipod, like the touch+phone 8gig"
--> the n95 also had a music player, better features overall, and it cud record video which took apple a while to implement. the n95 was originally more expensive than the iphone but it had much more specs and arguably it still has better specs than the iphone 3g which is still sold. eventually they both had similar prices. also y wud u buy from a company that lies to u. it was advertised that the iphone 3g was 1/2 the price of the iphone. that was not true. if u took the 2yr plan u had to hv for the iphone and iphone 3g into consideration, u wud find that the iphone 3g was at least $50 more expensive. its easy for a phone to be cheaper when its subsidized by the carrier.
"n95 then put 8gig in theirs,so you think n95 better phone, thats why its long gone ugly"
--> its ugly, but at least its a useful phone. iphone is a worse phone. it didnt hv sms forwarding, no mms, much more dropped calls. on a phone i think those features r pretty important. not the fact that its got an apple logo behind it. it took iphone much longer to even make a simple phone call. also phones with large memory such as 4gb and 8gb were available b4 the iphone. look at SE w950. also n95 8gb is much better than the iphone 3g. its not that ugly but its got much better specs. talking about design, apple is the only company i know that did not change the design of their phone in over a yr.
"so thy changed the look n96-n97so it looks like an iphone sleek and beutifull."
--> sleek and beautiful phones were available before iphone. the nokia 8800 series were sleek, and beautiful before the iphone for example. also nokia had a touchscreen phone with the same screen size as iphone but better resolution, 3yrs b4 the first iphone. see nokia 7710. the n97 looks more like this or the lg prada than the iphone.
