Well to be honest I think that the best android based phones are the htc ones. They incorporate their sense ui and the android os perfectly unlike the other brands. HTC will become and even bigger brand if they carry on making phones like these.

              X10 doesn't really deserve a seprate post?

Dom, 22 Mar 2010Why switch? Cos T-Mobile has a much faster network, better ... moreT-Mobile in UK has terrible coverage compared to O2 or Vodafone.. And it is not faster as all 3G speeds are capped at 3.6MB outside London where 7.2 meg is available..

Bill, 22 Mar 2010To be fair, Android/HTC still suck in Europe. The big boys ... moreHTC's brand name is getting bigger and bigger. Phones4u, definitely the least techie of the phone shops, has been doing a massive push on the HTC HD2, in the vast majority of magazines and newspapers the Hero was awarded phone of the year 2009, and there has been a massive advertising campaign by HTC - TV, cinema, billboards etc. Android still has a branding problem though, I agree.

for now HTC desire is probably the best phone out there, but X10 is so damn close and has really stunning looks.
and when it gets newer android update it will came out on top.
only thing that will be left for desire are amoled technology(yet to be proven as an actual advantage in comparison of these two) and slightly more RAM.
but Xperia has bigger screen with more resolution and top of the line camera

The big boys in the UK, without a doubt are Apple/Nokia/SE/Samsung. With the exception of the tecchies and the htc hero, no one, and i mean no one, has heard of HTC or would even consider buying it. Brand name is everything, something which HTC does not have here and folk see Google's Android as nothing but hype, much like the Iphone although at least that's doing well unlike Android.

Have discovered that the HTC Desire is only available from today for NEW customers, existing customers who have been waiting months to upgrade to this handset will have to wait until Friday.

Now it does not take a genius to realise that by friday the first shipment of HTC Desires that T-Mobile had received will have all gone, I would also hazard a guess that the next shipment will have gone to new customer who will have pre-ordered them.

So the long a the short of it is, if you are an existing customer and are desperate to get one of these phones you have four options.
                                        1. Start a new contract with T-Mobile and get the Desire, but end up running your existing contract along side the new contract until it runs out.
                                        2. Wait until the other five networks, all of whom are scheduled to get the HTC Desire at the beginning of April, and switch network.
                                        3. Wait, probably for the next two months, until T-Mobile get stock that existing customers can get their hands on.
                                        4. Wait for the HTC Supersonic to hit the streets.

I suppose for the time being I'll just have to sulk.
