Asking for nearly $800 for this phone. You gotta be crazy. If anybody else pulled something like this, people would laugh. But I guess people have gotten used to paying the Sony premium (kinda like the Apple Tax).

That's fine when you are going to get a great quality device. But when you are getting something that's out of date right out of the box, that's certainly bothersome.

I would just like SE to step up.

Ultimately, what matters is how well the phone sells. That's the real test. Good luck with that, if SE sticks to the USD 770 price tag.

[deleted post]Can you explain why the X10 is arriving with an OS that's 5 months out of date? I haven't seen anybody explain that on here.

Or why SE isn't committing to a firm date for an upgrade? Please feel free to post a link to an SE announcement with a firm date.

And while you're at it, please let us know what SE's commitments are future Android updates. When Android 3 comes out, is that going to be 6 months late too?

We must give SE X10 some time now and then we will see if it will win several rewards like the moto along with other handsets. My point here is that I have never seen any handset that people argued about like the X10! 300 freaking comments!! WoW Don't just think about it as comments, but think about that this means SE made something huge worth all this debate, and as I asserted before this is just the beginning man :D

WooooooW folks we have a record here in Gsmarena's history! There have never been so much comments in the news forums the way it has been with the ultimate king the Xperia X10!!!

300 comments!!! Can you believe that??? How much did this device grab attention, and how much did people argue about this device?? I guess the numbers say it all, 300 comments! Unbelievable

I really feel that this handset will be an enormous success for SE, since it has grabbed great attention much more than any other handset in existence. Well done SE and we wish you all the luck in coming back strong to the market that you once dominated.

[deleted post]Most of your counter-points are valid (your foul language notwithstanding), except for number 3. Eclair has been out for 5-6 months now. Flan has been out for 2 months. The fact that SE hasn't managed to port Android 2.0 (Eclair) to the X10 in 5-6 months and is not committing to a firm date (they just say it will be updated...they don't say when) is very disconcerting. That should tell you they are having more troubles then they are letting on.

And that to me means, that the phone is going to out-of-date at launch. Keep in mind that Android 1.6 to 2.1 is a huge jump. A lot of Android's best features will be left out because of an out of date OS.

The phone isn't worthwhile till SE at least commits to a firm timetable for updates. And you'd best hope they don't keep perpetually 2-3 months behind in porting over other Android updates. That's a lot of time in the mobile world.

I was a huge SE fan, but this phone has left me a little disappointed. I'll be getting my Android fix from HTC this year. While it's a great phone hardware wise, it's badly overpriced (right now) and out of date. I would have sprung for it, at minimum, if SE could commit to an upgrade schedule. But right now, this would be like paying more for a computer that comes installed with Windows 95 and the retailer promising to mail you a Windows 7 CD "sometime in the future".

SE used to make good phones but they now they make old technology phones that no one wants!
