As a Nokia fan, Andriod phone blowing up in a big way and will get popular, if they have games like they do on the i-phone then it's game over. I agree with the person who said it's not so much about the hardware but rather the software. Nokia N958GB was and still is one of the best phones ever, The N96,N85,N81,N97,N97mini almost do the same things just update. N95 and N900 are standout phone.

Man people want a 24 mega pixel camera phone, there's no satisfying people these day. Just get a normal camera if people want a really grea camera, i'm happy with 5mega pixels. Most phone will have a feautre that's lacking i order to make the PHONE run smoothly.

How about a phone which is 24MP, play games with graphics just as good as a PS3/Xbox, GPS, Wifi, Video conferencing, 8mb internet speed, 64GB, with an extra 32GB memory card. HD screen, multitouch, FM radio there no pleasing some people Sheeesh!!

One thing to keep in mind is that for the average user, beyond 5-8 MP, is not really all that useful. Optical zoom would have helped a lot more.

Well, do u mind if I to compare E72 with ur fruit phone in the terms of thickness???

correction - i forgot about Samsung. They should be able to make decent cameraphones as well. From camera point of view of course.

[deleted post]believe me it is matter of time to stop people to enter entertainment events (like concerts, theatres, etc.) if they carry device capable of HD recording.

Those "copyrighters" are crazy about their business.

besides SE no other mobile phone manufacturer can provide handheld device with comaprable picture quality to ordinary digital cameras. However SE for some reason never did that so far.

My personal advice being more photo geek than mobile geek is to select one of ultra portable photocameras able to zoom at least 3x, having better lenses, better imaging ccd/cmos, WAY better processing firmware and sometimes less weight. All that costs less than any 8mp+ mobile you can find.

Are you an average user? The fact that you expect so much from a phone camera and hang out at gsmarena does make you a phone geek. Sorry to break it to ya. And while a cam might help. Nokia might sell you a phone, but without a solid UI and a rich integrated user experience, Nokia won't sell enough smartphones to survive. Don't generalize your experience and suggest it's average. It's not. And catering to guys like you will kill Nokia.

andrew, 01 Apr 2010sorry keith, but I think you are wrong... I'm not a phone g... morestrange that you value so much about fotos/videos you capture in your life but you REFUSE to carry a separate camera to capture all the special moments of your life, well knowing even most compact DC's, likely being thinner than your brick almighty brand phones, can capture the special moments in much better quality than your so called "phone".

One way you seem to complain your previous almighty brand phones can't fulfill all of your "imaging needs", yet you refuse to carry a separate DC to do the good job.

But then in the end, how many "phone" users are "phone cam crazy" like you?

Keith, 01 Apr 2010And I seriously hope they are sincere about supporting Symb... moresorry keith, but I think you are wrong... I'm not a phone geek at all. I go out ALL the time, and that's why I like to have a good camera on me at all times. I had a n82 which was 5mp with xenon flash. It took great photos in clubs, but when I was recording videos at concerts, I couldn't zoom in because the quality went crappy. Then I got the n86: 8mp without xenon. It can't quite match the n82 in a club or low-light with its LED's (which blur). It has digital video zoom so videos at concerts/festivals did turn out pretty well but I still wanted more. What I'm trying to say is that I still haven't had a complete camera yet. I don't really care about MP passed 8 but there is still a cameraphone out there that can satisfy all my "life-capturing" needs. And that is 8mp+, with xenon flash, and hd recording. This IS important to me because I refuse to carry a separate camera with me EVERYWHERE I go. I just love recording and taking photos ALL the time, to capture every moment of my life in detail. Alot of people want the "perfect" device that is a phone, a fully functioning camera, a music player, internet, etc...
The iPhone is great but its not one of these phones. It's popular because it has an "i" before its name and has lots of apps. I'd trade all the apps in the world for a good camera any day.

And I seriously hope they are sincere about supporting Symbian^3 and that it's not going to be another Maemo 5 or S60 in a few more months when Symbian^4 comes out.

If they aren't committed to supporting S^3, they might as well hold off and release S^4

Is this going to be Nokia's new strategy? 5MP cameras become the norm, so Nokia puts out 12 MP camera phones? Didn't they get the memo? Nobody but the geeks care. The pixel race is over.

For the average user (the non-geeks who Nokia is hoping will buy this phone in droves), a 5 MP camera is pretty decent, they aren't going to be bothered trying to acquire a 12 MP camera. They want software. They want an easy to use OS. Not a powerful OS. An easy to use one. And they want cloud integration. Not side-loaded maps, but live maps from the cloud or easy one click map downloads, for example. They want a great place to get apps (like a native app store).

If anybody thinks I am off-base, just think of how well the iPhone sells. The OS isn't all that powerful. But it's slick and very easy to use. The walled garden is very restrictive, but the app selection is so huge, most people don't mind. Apple's also got great cloud integration with Google and/or its own MobileMe services. Those are the secrets of its success and why the iPhone has captured so much market share from the likes of Nokia and Sony Ericsson in only 3 years on the market.

Slam the iPhone all you want. But it sells. And it sells for one specific reason. The phone does what people (not phone geeks) want. And it does it well. That's why it can survive with a 3 MP camera for example. Because the folks who buy iPhones don't care about megapixels. I mean really, is Nokia hoping that people drop their DSLRs and use their Nokias instead?

If all Nokia does is pump out a spec'd out phone, a few thousand die-hard Nokia fans will buy it, of course. But that won't be enough to save Nokia's behind in the smartphone business. I hope Nokia understands this. It's make or break. And this time it's all about software. Get the software right and you can probably sell it with a 3 MP camera. The iPhone proves that point everyday.

look guys, any company can put the zillion pixel Camera and whatever spec they like.
what will really affect the nokia sales is the new symbian^3 if it will match the android in functionality and the iphoneOS in the smooth operation or its just another modded !@@#$ .
