We all know that Apple has been doing this for years. Surprised that they are being sued only now. I moved out of Apple ever since they slowed down my iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2

i belive that person got that idea of filing a lawsuit against apple from an android user, since for android phones once your phone receives an update it will perform much better...

Just upgrade but its not that simple for iOS users because a lot of them aren't as tech savvy as Android users so they assume buying an iPhone 4S and a cheap price in 2015 is a good idea.

Probably you are not installing apps and updates that much to make it wear fast enough. And probably you are among those who are fine with anything. There are people with Pentium V, 16 MB RAM and Windows XP saying it works like a charm.

I did not know that EMMCs have the intelligence to identify whether latest version of IOS is installed in your old device and slow down the moment it is installed, and not slow down if your device continues to run older version of IOS.

People have become so obcessed with "updates" that they no longer believe their phone is working if it doesnt get updated. Thats the mentality nowadays and even arguments of poor sales rep. Why care for an "update" as long as your phone performs 100% ? to bring trouble ?

Eske Rahn, 30 Dec 2015Well then they should not offer the update, or if they do ... moreWell said. As I can't speak for others, I will share my own experience. I got ipad air about 2 years back. It was super smooth with IOS 7, with occasional lag due to low RAM (just 1 GB). Then I updated it to IOS 8, without having any knowledge about Apple's tactics. It just became unstable - frequent restarts of OS on its own, app crashes etc. With further patches the situation improved, but it was never the same super smooth device it was with IOS 7.

Having seen how IOS 8 turned out for my ipad air, I decided not to upgrade to IOS 9. Now, I am living with a flawed device, with occasional app crashes (luckily for me OS restarts are not there anymore). I don't have any other choice to go back to IOS 7 by any means which would make it damn good as it was when I bought it.

It's the American way; you're sued if you do, sued if you don't. Or is it sue or get sued? Or sue or die trying? Ah whatever, probably all three.

I don't think it's a bad business practice. sometimes it is needed. why would anyone buy an apple phone again if update slows down the device ?. they don't actually forced user to buy a new phone. it's users decision.
but it will be so bad if GSMarena get a threatening mail from apple against this post saying they will stop giving review phone
