In your case, it only means the official MM firmware for your G3 is not available yet.

* Here... moreYou can not officially update your phone to MM unless LG has released the official firmware for your phone. The LG mobile support tool or the LG PC Suite will connect to LG database & if there is no MM firmware available for your phone, the software will say you have the latest firmware available for your phone.
Believe me. This is base on my experience. I used LG PC Suite since last year and LG Mobile Support Tool since January to check my phone for MM update. And only few weeks back (when the MM update for my phone is officially released by LG) I got the update.
So it only means that whatever software you use, if the official firmware for your phone is not yet released by LG themselves, you will not officially get it.

beast, 21 May 2016I have finished updating my lg g3 to marshmallow,thankfully... moreI recommend a factory reset. Your phone will become even faster. It will be as if you buy a new one. Just like in a PC, a clean or fresh OS install is better that just an upgrade. It will clean your device from unnecessary files.
In G3, notice that the folder "Management" in the home screen appears after resetting, whereas it was not there after just the upgrade.
BTW, it's just my suggestion, based on my experience.
But before resetting, don't forget to backup all your files especially those that are on your phone's internal memory.
