AnonD-152638, 05 Jan 2016Most people dont care about user replaceable batteries, the... moreFirst of you can get a thin format phone with replace-able battery (just make the battery last less, for those wanting a bigger battery they can always buy a thicker replacement battery, like Samsung did with Galaxy Alpha).
So the two can be obviously married. It also (obviously) needs more money thrown to RnD (to make a phone with user-replaceable battery easy to the eyes is not the easiest thing in the world, interestingly enough some chinese companies achieved just that, but that's another topic). So that's doable too.
Despite the above I can (and will) grant the need of a phone as a fashion accessory expressed especially by people buying iPhones. Even though it's a losing battle I can grant that Samsung wants to fight it. So -yeah- let them make Samsung Galaxy S7 featureless but easy on the eyes.
What I don't understand is why the Note Series should suffer the consequences. My Note 4 is workhorse that has replaced most of my devices. It's a miracle of modern technology (*the* pinnacle if you ask me). A mini-PC that doesn't look half-bad (yeah, it doesn't win prizes in the look department, but it's actually comparably good looking) but it's *insanely* useful.
It's my Note-pad, it's my laptop, my game console, even my Desktop when I connect it my monitor. It's everything I need it to be. Why should they unmake such a perfect recipe is beyond me. There's an *obvious* need for such a device.
Even if it is 1% of all smarphone sales it is an insanely profitable proposition especially if your price it close to $1000 (I don't mind the cost for such a piece of machinery). And -yeah- a replaceable battery and micro-SD is a *big* part of its usefulness...
There lies my gripe. Not so much with Galaxy S7, but because the Note seems to be affected too.

There is no need for a camera downgrade, don't go the Nokia way 808/1020 much better than those similarly priced(OK everyone has inflated their phones prices) lumia 830/920.

Most people dont care about user replaceable batteries, they care more about design and a thin format.
And with a batterypack, or a charger, it's not like many people would not make it through the day somehow.
It is possible, that there is a market for devices designed for power users.
But flagship smartphones are not inteded for power users, anymore.
Samsung and the rest will design their flagship in a way that they feel fits their intended target audience. And power users, would only make up for a small percentage of that. And power user request, that requires a different design, that makes the device less attractive to most of their intended target audience, will be left out, in favour of selling more devices.
Rather beg Samsung to introduce a power user line, than cry that their new flagship is missing power user features. I know the Note series could have been just that, but it got mainstream attention, so now it is a mainstream line-up.
I dont think samsung should introduce micro SD cards again, if that will hurt performance (micro sd cards are far slower than the built in flash memory of the 2015 flagship lineup).
For the camera you would want the fastet storage. And for Apps, the same. So I dont really see the use for micro SD, when there is USB OTG support, and you can buy wireless storage (flashdrives, harddrives, SSDs, card-readers, and so on).

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2016Yeah, your phone still discharges if you make the attempt t... moreWhile I agree that replacing battery is much easier solution for the phone, I must share my experience with my external battery pack.
It's 10000 mah and it charges my phone from 5 to 90 in about 2h all the while the phone is running pretty heavy game. The pack is supposed to charge the phone about 4 times and I would have to say it really does come close to marketed description. Yeah it is slightly bulkier than the phone but when it comes to convenience and versatility, I decided the pack is a good solution. I can charge any device that uses USB on it as opposed to replaceable battery is only good for my phone. It charges my tablet, bluetooth headset, and my gf's phone. All for $25.
I have my spare batteries charged up in my car, work, bag etc. But I carry my ext pack given I have something I can carry ot in.

AnonD-120291, 05 Jan 2016Actually an external bsttery pack with a capacity the same ... moreThe problem with portable chargers is that they have to be charged separately (apart from the phone) and that they do not give an instant 100% charge to the phone (unlike removable batteries).
Yeah, I disagree with the other user though, modern portable chargers are quite small. Still, a quite messier solution than popping in a spare, or indeed buying a battery with greater capacity.

GMArena you had exactly the same articles for S6/S6 Edge and Note 4/Edge+ before like a year and 8 months respectively and both turned out to be false. When will this trend of false speculation end?

Couple of things that concern me about the S7, is first this always on screen thing basically similar to what Motorola do for notification could this mean bye bye to the LED notification light, I personally hope not as i love the notification LED.
Secondly the larger sensor & the f1.7 lens, to help with better low light which also mean due to the size of the sensor and lens module needed for this it could see OIS disappear in the S7, Samsung excuse due to the fast lens & larger sensor it's no longer needed, but in reality it to keep size & production costs down so it could be back to digital stabilization for the S7.
So on one hand while they giving you features you once had back like weather sealing & micro SD they also could be taking away a couple of very useful features that will have people complaining.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2016Yeah, your phone still discharges if you make the attempt t... moreActually an external bsttery pack with a capacity the same size as the average phone, lets say 2800mAh as an average with fast charging capability is about the size of a credit card and about 7mm in thickness, u dont even k ow they are there, i have a 20,000mAh power ba k and it almost exactly the same size as my note 5 in diameter and thickness, amd it has 2usb ports and a micro usb port, can charge slow and fast devices while being charged itself, nothing like a brick at all, but i do understand about removable bstteries, i still wish i could whip out my note battery and replace it with a fresh one or better still a higher capacity one

I hope this is true.. Waterproofing with SD card slot (yay!) I already moved on to replaceable battery which is not really a major concern. Storage is important to me since i have lots of music (around 9GB) and apps and want it to be stored in my sd. instead of going to 64gb of storage for another $100, well sd card is cheaper so i want that back.

middlefinger, 05 Jan 2016Everyone can understand that .. but thats what many of them... moreI "like" your attitude. "They're robbing you, but oh well, move on".
I actually bought a smartphone because it simplifies my life. I couldn't care less about their profits, if they create a less useful product I won't buy it. For example Note 4 is still Top. Not one of 2015 phones touched it, that's a problem they should solve and we -the customers- should make it clear to them.
Do they want us to buy more phones? Add value to them, make them more useful, make me buy them so that to become more productive by replacing my other devices. If they remove value I won't move on because I don't have a reason to. Don't treat me like an idiot and I will give you my cash, treat me like an imbecile and you won't have my money. I think that should be everyone's attitude.
For example buy LG instead of Samsung this year 'round, buy from companies that give value, let them suffer by setting the course instead of -us- the customers doing the deed. It's our needs that they're supposed to cover, not theirs.

middlefinger, 05 Jan 2016It looks like u just sit in one place with phone on 24/7 an... moreNo, I just explained that it has replaced my laptop for most of the things. Being 8 hours behind a screen *combined* is not much at all, if you add the laptop work that you're now doing to your phone (surfing the net for info, replying/reading emails, keeping notes instead of using paper, answering calls, etc).
The thing is that modern phones are setting to become the *one* device to use for 95% of computing tasks. 8 hours *total* for all of your computing tasks is actually nothing compared to how much more time people spend before various forms of screens...
So -yeah- the sealed battery sham makes me to want to go back to a laptop, to a console, to a PC , etc ... because if I'm to use my phone for all those uses combines it will turn into a paper-weight in the middle of the day.
It's crazy that the replacable battery tech was abandoned *now*, the only time that it made sense (dumb phones have little/no use of replace-able batteries as their use is limited anyway).

Most people b... moreEveryone can understand that .. but thats what many of them wanted and most manyfacturers these days are concentrating on the look of the phones. Even phones with removable back like moto g and mot x have non removable battery. They just want your phone to be dead in 2 years and force u to buy new phones which most of them do anyways ..so i dont see any issues here. so again stop complaining and move one.
