This is not the MUSE - the MUSE will have a 4GB flash memory and is due for relase circa July (TBC).

Has the camera resolution and image quality got any better in the JAMin as compared to the JAM? I have been using a JAM and have to say that the image quality is pathetic at 1.3 Mega Pixels.

Just to clear things up, the K-JAM & Dopod 838 shares the exact same internal hardware. There is no performance difference between this two devices, the only difference is the ROM version which might be different between i-mate & Dopod.

By the way, XDA Atom with the latest 2nd ROM update version had improved significantly & it is now a much faster device than the HTC Prophet (aka Dopod 818 Pro & etc). XDA Atom was initially slow & laggy was due to a poor initial ROM release, it has nothing to do with the processor performance. Furthermore, the Texas Instruments OMAP850 processor is running on dual core but its clockspeed is just mere 195MHz when compared the Intel XScale PXA272 on the XDA Atom is running on 416MHz. Not to mention the XDA Atom have a FM radio, dual loudspeakers, camera flashlight & now supports A2DP for bluetooth stereo headsets although it is only Bluetooth 1.2 compliant.

Visit this forum if u want the benchmark results between these two devices, http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=69522

I advise the people here do not speculate about the HTC Prophet might over the XDA Atom because it is not true at all. The advantages of HTC Prophet over XDA Atom are Bluetooth 2.0 compliant (but no A2DP support), wi-fi 802.11g & better camera due to the macro shot feature. The advantage of HTC Prophet is definitely NOT the speed nor heavy multitasking ability. Please take note.

PS: The Dopod 818 Pro's ROM update will be released soon, probably with AKU 2 update included in too.

the prophet is not 'half speed' as the intel 416mhz processors. the architecture is different - think amd vs intel. numbers mean nothing in this case. the camera is super, the battery life is super. the only thing is that it is from imate, and the k-jam (wizard) was slow. i had the dopod 838 (also a wizard) and it was snappy, unlike the slowness on the k-jam that people has been complaining about. imate could screw their jamin up by installing intensive programs, like they did for their k-jam.

HTC is the manufacturer. Qtek, I-mate and O2 are the distributers. We are talking about exactly the same devices coming for one manufacturer (HTC), under a different brand name each time .

                  I hope this might help

                    mark >----->

as far as i am aware:
htc is the manufacturer and then the branding is changed to i-mate, qtek, and others as far as spv(orange uk), mda/sda(t-mobile uk), and xda(o2)

software is changed on individual handsets, but the spec is almost the same for all, usually very similar handset structure aswell, and especially the casing colours.

                    hope this helps

ps does anyone know if this is the model with the original name : muse

                    ?

                    thanks

I am finding it realy hard to keep this phone scratch free. Does anyone know where you can get different fone covers for the imate jam, I have seen 1 colourful one before and thats all. I just want something with a bit more colour.

Does anyone fully understand the relationship between HTC, O2, Imate etc. are they one in the same or competitors?

There seems to be a very little difference between some of their products.

I strongly recommend the htc to revise and enhance this poor processor, they can atleast replace the old 416mhz proc. of JAM with this, i dont know why are they doing this?dont they care about their reputation and benefit? i tested the k-jam recently, its terribly slow, i hope they dont repeat the same mistake again.

Hey Ali, don't be too quick to criticise the proc on the Prophet. I've tried both the Atom and Prophet and chose Prophet over Atom because it is faster. Read my previous post to understand the reasons.

I do not know why HTC are using those outdated 200mhz processors in all new models that they are currently releasing. Nowadays there are processors as fast as 624mhz, why use a 200mhz one? Apart from the processor, this phone is good, but because of the processor I would still prefer an imate jam over this one.

mark don't be fooled by numbers. apparently, the dopopd 818 with a 200 mhz processor speed runs like a wind as compare to atom's 416...

The XDA atom is improved alot in all aspects, those previous issues that it used to have cannot be experienced anymore, I think the atom is a better device compare to this one, apart from the camera though....
