Listen up. I have the Dopod 818 Pro (i.e. 1st HTC Prophet device). I feel compelled to explain to all of you here that don't quite understand why HTC has made the Prophet the way it is:
1. 65k display - Windows Mobile 5 only supports 65k colours, why would they put in a more expensive 262k display when the OS can't support it.
2, The TI OMAP 850 200 MHz - The OMAP process 3 instructions per clock cycle compared to the XScale that process 1 per cycle, thus the OMAP is more efficient, and uses less power. But it cannot best a 624 MHz XScale.
3. 3G is not a requirement for the many business users that will be getting this device. For those who need it, there's the HTC Universal (i-Mate JASJAR), so consumers do have a choice. Including 3G would have made the device larger and heavier and negate its primary selling point.
4. Camera - the camera on the device is currently the best considering Windows Mobile 5 devices. And I've seen quite a few. It's not as good as a dedicated digital camera, but the pictures and sharp and colours are good.
5. Don't compare with P990. P990 is phone trying to be handheld. The HTC Prophet, is a handheld with a built-in phone.

To be precise, i-mate JAMin is the 3rd branded device from HTC Prophet, NOT 2nd. The 1st & 2nd goes to Dopod 818 Pro & Qtek S200

for those you who want all the features this phone has and radio and 3G, the Sony Ericsson p990 is a good choice, which is available already. it is just that the os of the p990 is symbian and this, windows mobile

bloddy oath it should be 3G... what the hell are they doing??!!??!!??!!
Gprs is just rediculasly slow for data transfer, considering the euro/asian market these things were designed for, and considering those contanants are almost blanketed with 3*G, why the hell would they cling on to old radio tech and leave it GSM :S:S:S
Glad to see Wifi built in, but without 3G capacity. well just annoying :(

The radio is just a thing...
First the display - 262k would be nice and will made it up to grade 10
Second memory - a leap forward was expected. And yes I know about the MMC...But still.
Processor - Have not checked TI OMAP specs as MhZ vs. MhZ to others. But will have to add that intel is going up 2and1/2 times more as pure speed.
Everything else rocks. And as this guys are going... I think soon they will share quite a market percentage

Cant believe my eyes. I was just ordering a K-Jam and the guy told me about a Nokia 7710 so I went on gsmarena.com to have a look at it. But before I looked at it, what do I see? This device! The only thing missing is the radio as I was waiting for the P990 when I stumbled on the K-Jam. Still thibk the cam could be better so I think I will wait on this one though.
