stefan, 30 Apr 2010nokia pattented the letter "x" for there mobiles.... moreIt's safer to say Nokia has bought the patent of X letter for mobile from Samsung since Samsung already have it since 2003 on their X100, X600, X200, X150, and so on..., buy patent of E letter from Motorola (35%) and Samsung (65%), and buy patent of C letter from Sony Ericsson (50%) and Samsung (50%).

And it is safe now to say that you now nothing about history of cellphone.

stefan, 30 Apr 2010nokia pattented the letter "x" for there mobiles.... moreAs I remember, Sony Ericsson had letter-based handset series since inception - S, T, P/M, K, W and Z. Later, they switched tho another letter-based naming convention that has more sense - I'm sure you can find the press release on the Internet (posted late 2009).

Having that said, I'm not sure it's "safer to say SE copied Nokia", since Nokia had number-based handset series, 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx, 9xxx. A few years later (probably thinking they'd run out of numbers soon due to their former even numbers naming convention) they launched Nseries and Eseries. It's true a new music oriented line of handsets (branded XpressMusic) appeared. But this was "migrated" to the new X line in the new naming scheme.

I'm no expert, but stop praising Nokia for what they don't deserve.

stefan, 30 Apr 2010nokia pattented the letter "x" for there mobiles.... moreso what happened to Motorola when it released its first E-series phone, E360, back in 2002? Any E-series from the almighty brand at that time?

Moto also came out with C series around the same time, in case you don't know.

It will not crash and... moreAgreed many matured rich people don't really care about phones with fancy features like 12 mp camera or hd recording or huge touch screens blah blah, all they care about is simplicity and devices like the x2 offer this with minimum fuss. Its the poor/midclass young boys with no real income who just want highly specd devices so they can show off to their friends because they don't have anything else to show off.

It seems like Nokia adopting SE's design. This X3 looks like old SE T100.
