why not let the camera protrude then add thickness then add battery capacity?

You'd also probably be shocked when you realize how much money dev's make off of iOS when compared to Android. Android users are broke ass jokes with wallets that do nothing but preserve what little cents they have left in the name of "my specs on this piece of paper are better than yours and I paid less". Why would dev's want to cater to them? For world peace? I think not.
