Ha! Now the Android 7 is around the corner and they are about to release the New S7, they finally thought they would make people happy just to manipulate them into buying again from them. Samsung, get a grip before its too late.

AnonD-416928, 16 Feb 2016As I said - Samsungs are more powerful. I don't deny that. ... moreA whole lot of words there that seem to equate to you trying to justify going for the G4, nothing wrong with buyer's remorse.

Hopefully the G5 does a better job for you and LG, as the G4 truly failed.

The Doze feature only kicks in when the phone is completely idle and sitting still, that means e.g. when its sitting on your bed side table, NOT when in your pocket.

Samsung in 5.1 brought Smart Manager which allows Power Saving the apps themselves, giving the user control of how much power the app may use. Samsungs also allowed moving app data to MicroSD long ago so again no benefit of it in 6.0.

The only great thing we get in 6.0 is App Permission control, otherwise us Samsung users have had the other major 6.0 features already.

Thanks for your concern though. :) Its the thought that counts.

Going through many G4 forums, it seems the 6.0 update wasn't that great for it, people facing stutters, batt drain etc... I'm glad Samsung took the time to Beta Test and release an update that has had proper QC.

LG tend to be fast as they skip QC, thats why some batches of the G4 have major issues, thats why their orange leather peeled in a matter of months, and thats why they had to rush and make the V10, which again, poor battery life, again the weak 808 CPU.

You really should worry more about LG and their quality standards, Mr. Economist, you of all people should know the importance of QC.

Pointing my case with LG is not to brag about it, but to give perspective, a comparison if you like. There is nothing bad in that. Even more - I am interested in devices from different brands simply because I love good tech and reading for more brands gives me perspective. You only see Galaxy-s. You don't have perspective. You want facts about the 6 on G4? Here - better battery life trough Doze, app permissions managing is now a straightforward thing, bug fixes and improvements for some system apps I've been waiting for. Three things, but important. It's like that when you go for quality, not for quantity of improvements.

My previous phone was Samsung and my buyer's choice was based exactly on that. As for the G4 bugs - in XDA there's a poll in hte G4 thread trying to correlate G4 bugs to it's serial number, i.e. certain batches from the production lines. Luckily my phone relates to a bug-free batch, being bug-less itself. Of course I don't live alone on this planet and I can't just close my eyes to the problems with G4 for other users. However these bugs are fixable and with a healthy device like mine one can be really satisfied (that again is up to user's needs). My hopes are that the G5 will outgrow these problems. Now back to the topic - LG beats everyone in terms of OS support and updates to Android 6. I still relate to Samsung with my second phone, although old and as an economist I am interested in Samsung's policy towards it's products once they get in the hands of the customers. Despite being an LG user I can't hide my frustration with Samsung's slow updating - being in the rumor mill for two months and then beta and just now an official release (and still, quote, very soon). At least on my LG, the 6 brought some real good stuff. Some people here underestimate the 6, but it is good. It just came too slowly for Samsung devices.

As far as i noticed, there are almost no news articles about what Marshmallow brings (interesting new features) to other brands (including LG G4), only for Galaxy series: Samsung works to bring features, new elements to UI etc.. whereas others just update the kernel like sheeps (sorry for the word) just to look cool with a +1 version. And it has always been like that. For each Android version, Samsung adds even a few features/options to their phones. I owned a G3, the phone was same before and after updating it to lollipop with battery draining. Well.

That's why Samsung stays the top sellers among Android famous manufacturers (not talking about chinese competition which is another matter).

I've still my S5 and just for that mess, i didn't update any other device with it (Alpha and Note 2014 tablet). Lollipop is flawed by default even google just prefered to move on to Marshallow rather than fixing beyond 5.1.1.
By updating your phone really late, you just didn't get the whole big mess that early adopters got (like basic features gone suddenly), just a partial mess with white "anti-oled" UI, high ram usage and bad battery draining now.

TouchWiz became very lite in 2015, so don't worry about us. :)

I tried the G4, and I don't blame you for having buyer's remorse, I tried along side my Note 4, and found the display rather mediocre and it seems the battery is average at best (going by how a colleague has to charge theirs), then there is also the weak GPU, and the peeling of the orange leather, the reboot bug etc... Absolute disaster, explains why its available so cheap, some online stores sell the G4 at the same price as a Note 4 N910H (the non-LTE variant).
