30% of your mobile data is consumed behind the scenes and Opera has a solution

Isn't it just great that we now live in a world where data can travel everywhere with you, seamlessly? Open up an instant messenger on your phone and wallah, all your conversations are just where you left them last, perhaps on your PC or tablet. The same goes for your email, photos and most every data that you decide to hand over management of to Google, Apple, Microsoft or any other cloud service.

Hmm....here in Latvia, we have unlimited LTE/LTE-A for about a 10 EUR/month with speed up to 50mbit/s ...i really dont care about some background data usage.

Or you can buy a Windows Phone device and fully disable data altogether within a few seconds (and that includes the time needed for "killing" the two setting panes). ;)

I cannot overemphasise, data costs . Why have a high resolution screen otherwise? Even a six inch screen needs only 720p , what your tv has on bog standard sky, such that even if you could play games tethered and mirrored onto a 24 inch monitor , 720p is all you need.
Even as a photographer with an 808 and a g4 i am fine with looking at results afterward on a computer, only wishing that the 808 screen was as big as the LG G4- to frame and compose with and see what i am doing. Size matters on a phones screen, but as many reviewers have pointed out, resolution above 720p does not. It justs makes a fortune for those you rent and buy data from.

I have a G4 but dont use it online as with its hires screen it consumes , of course, 4 times the data an Hd screen uses, to no purpose, as an hd screen is, in every case, of no use to man or beast on a phone online, regardles. New phones are specifically being marketed to bankrupt owners, an LG G4 online can easily use 25 mb per one single page online, say a shpping site or newspaper. Any video use or gaming is really breathtakingly expensive, and with your stoopid apps running in the background as well you will go over your limit unles you are umlimited datawise. So i stick to an old nokia , pay a for a month for 250mb that never ever runs out on it. Opera makes this possible as on Symbian OS its all we millions of Symbian users have left. Symbians apps being dead they also add no data use, perfect!

roy10, 19 Feb 2016well data in our country is so cheap we dont really need op... moreGlad to inform you that India launched a cheapest smartphone at $4 or say 3.6$ isn't that quite wow thing

Follow these steps for better overall performance:

            1. Use wifi for browsing if there are any close available (no data consumption for cellular)
            2. Never keep your data connection + WiFi always on if you don't need! (saves battery + data)
            3. Use Greenify it 'freezes' (hibernates) apps which you don't use currently. When you open app it will be defrozen. (makes very clear ram many as possible, also saves data no services works in background, phone speed is increased by 60%, battery saving as well. The only problem with this is that you will not get notifications from apps which you will greenify, you can remove greenify for certain apps if you don't need.)
            4.????
            5. Win, save money, be happy.

We have good data tariffs here in UK but reading opinions over the years this does not happen worldwide.

                      1. I don't have mobile data plan. I use WIFI only.
                      2. I connect only if I want to browse.
                      3. I've disabled all background data and set all Wifi that I use as mobile hotspot.
                      4. Ublock Origin addon is installed in my Firefox.
                      5. I don't use cloud services. I use my local storages, and I backup my data on pendrives and DVD discs.

                      What I'm going to do:
I'm going to root my phone and uninstall all Google apps, all bloatware. I'll install a firewall. In the firewall I'm going to block the internet access for all apps/programs except the Firefox browser.

                      What I have/willl get:
100% privacy and security, no worries about the non-existent data plan and costs, more battery life (less battery usage), better performance when playing CPU intensive games (because no bloatwares running in the background).

opera seems to be pushing its opera max in all sort of tech news articles nowdays, Seeing many such articles which are at end of day pronoting opera max. Wonder if this one's paid by them too.

No, it isn't great that your data is as easily everywhere with government security services (or worse - advertisers) as with you.
