Android had plenty of time and in fact came out first to the market with wearables. Apple came and simply destroyed the competition. Produce better products, and market it well. I remember how the old digital watches surpassed the Swiss watches too. It didn't last long, though.
How proud is Apple now? Not Apple Watch leads the way, but apple's unique-breed-fans lead the way. For now.

Pebble smartwatch best smartwatch. no need to search for any other over expensive but only can hold up to one or 2 days battery life.

No one forces him to wear it to a classy event in which case if he truly did own a Patek (I'm not saying he's lying) he could then adorn that. But then again if He did indeed own a Patek and IF indeed he did give a rats a$$ about class, chances are he owns many a time piece, what would inspire him as to not add a smart watch to he's collection? And if he wanted to, really really wanted to, he could spend a couple thousand dollars on the gold Apple Watch and trick it out with a custom gold link bracelet. That oozes not only class, but a fat wallet with a FTW style. So to conclude, you see, this guy possesses neither class nor a fat wallet. What he MIGHT possess is a hand me down. Hence he's reluctance to make a purchase he doesn't understand the benefits. Cost vs reward basically.

I started wearing watches when smart watches came out. So this isn't surprising. And it isn't surprising that Apple leads the way, their fans are loyally brainless.

While design is subjective, of all the current bunch of smartwatches, Huawei watch is the only one that got it right. Apple looks better suited for sports activities, and kids(just look at Watch OS ui)

This isn't surprising, why would people buy dumb watch if they can buy smartwatch, of course there's people who buy watch for looks and they are going to buy those dumb watches but for most there's no point buying regular watch over smartwatch.
