Please, no more excuses. Galaxy S6 beats everyone even the beloved iPhone 6s.
Besides, it doesn't matter since generally, highend smartphones like Galaxy S6/S7, iPhone 6s, LG G5, etc produce beautiful images.

Why are you bothered by DxO mark? Don't be such a fan boy who wants your favorite to be on top.

AnonD-496905, 21 Feb 2016you're the one being a damn fanboy. At what time last year ... moreFirst DxO marking scheme is flawed. They gave marks based on what number they deem suitable. And they have a mark cap of 100 which is ridiculous. For example, S4 got 75, S5 got 79, S6 got 87, if S7 gets 95, then S8 will get 106? A score of more than perfect? DxO as professional as they seem is flawed by opinion. Ask any other reviewer site other than DxO and they will say that 808 is still the best smartphone camera ever. You just borrow someone's 808 and compare with whatever phone you want and you will come to realise that all pictures produced by other smartphones are garbage. You will then be baptized by the Pureview Technology

First I want to tell you not to rely on Dxomark too much when it comes to smartphone Camera. Their scores are very unpredictable. (Unlike DSLR-Mirrorless review that they did a great jobs.) You can look at their Z5 review, which is the leading in chart, it is really not up to that high score. (FYI I'm using Sony)

I can't just denied that 808 has the best output in terms of photo quality. Details are still one of, if not, the best. And color in JPEG is DSLR like. I really love it.
but truth is it doesn't do much compare to these days smartphone cams. The reason is it's lack of new technologies. (Low light shooting, panorama, 4K recorder etc.)

Sure it is still the best in terms of quality(especially, details) in bright light. But for low light it's not.

I still give the 808 for number one in image quality, but if I have to pick one phone to go out travelling, I definitely not choosing it.

Ps. I'm not mentioned 1020 because JPEG is bad. WB is off and it's lack of sharpness. Sure it's does shoot in Raw but it would be tiresome having to edit almost all of your photos.

These photos of Galaxy S7, I still don't see any improvement.(ฺ but have to say they really did a good job since S6.) And oversharpen is still there. However, autofocus is kills it. (looking forward to see it up against Z5) A bit disappoint in dropping the megapixel because I'm kinda pixel lovers haha (I'm ok with phone to be a bit chunky if I get what 808 has delivered, combine with new technologies it could be great and slim.)

I still looking forwad to see Smartphone cameras to really nailed it. Because even I have Panasonic LX100, which is considerably small, quite pocketable and good image quality in their range, i still feel uncomfortable carrying it everywhere. (I'm very tired of getting comment about why don't just using actual cameras, less gadget to carry around is better, right ?)

As far as point n' shoot goes, as in (anyone can take great pictures). The galaxy series, the G4 & up & iPhone's are the best on the market hands down.

BUT, the unspoken difference in quality in my opinion, comes in what you can do with a picture AFTER it is tooken. And this is where phones like Sony's Z series & Lumia's shine. Both of these companies post processing is meh to good at best. But thanks to great sensors & packed megapixels. You can better crop & post edit pictures like there is no tomorrow! You can yield even more sharpness & clarity due to the larger sensors & packed pixels. Resulting in unmatched photo quality.

You try this on a G, Galaxy or iPhone series & you'll find, it cannot be done to the same extent, simply because these companies have already post processed the image quality to their respective maxes. So at the end of the day, it once again comes done to preference. Do you prefer a great point n' shoot that'll garner amazing results almost every time & instantaneously. OR, do you like to put your own stamp of professionalism on photos you take with unrivaled ability to post edit images to appear higher quality than they actually are?

The Lumia 808 and 1020 were revolutionary cameras at the time. But when they finally got reviwed by Dx0, which was years later, it turned out its not better than Samsung, Apple, or Sony phones that are less than 2 years old. Sorry, it's old tech. Also, Lumia, Microsoft phones, no one is buying them. Might as well talk about how EV1 is a better electric car than a Tesla. No one will be buying it.

At what time last year ... moreWho would compare the new smartphone camera capabilities with the ones that are launched years back? DxO optics rated the latest iphone has the top notch camera last year. Seriously? On the comparison charts they didn't even compare it with Nokia Pureview 808 or Lumia 1020. Guess what, They won't compare, because the comparisons are made with the current competitors. That is why probably you wouldn't see the results. I am not comparing it with all Lumias. Ever since Microsoft bought the lumia, the features and design of most lumias are a disgrace. Being owned Lumia 1020 and compared with other smartphone cameras, I can say and stand for its camera quality any day !! Now asking me about the facts? I said go to a flickr pool at least to see the camera quality of Lumia 1020 and 808. You will admit when you see the sample images and compare them with any other phone launched till this date. The details of Nokia Pureview/Carl Zeiss 808 and 1020 lens are magnificent. I am not joking. Please do take some time to look rather being ignorant !
