I am paying attention and according to 'Anonymous (0TwR)' everything he/she says makes sense. As a Computer Technician my motto is that RAM is crucial but maybe I don't encounter RAM problems for the most part becaue I'm always doing maintenance, using utilies to clean RAM/Cache etc. It's a hobby even when the device isn't suffering from RAM issues.

As I said previously, I would consider getting this 6GB RAM Vivo if it was a bit smaller. A 6 inch screen is too big for me.

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2016A lot of people talking about Is 6GB RAM needed in 2016?? R... moreWhat's different in 2016 than in any other year? You really pulled that year out of your a $$.

The more ram you have the better, no matter the year. It's not like CPU or GPU where you need apps to use that power. Ram is used by EVERYTHING.

I wanted 6GB even in 2010 because it would mean that all my apps would be cached in memory = ultra fast phone = no wasted CPU cycles.

Caching >>>>> Everything else when it comes to performance.

You can have a SoC from 2020 , it still won't do you any good if it uses most of its time loading and unloading apps from memory. Cache means no loading times ... EVER.

A lot of people talking about Is 6GB RAM needed in 2016?? Really...I know most of you are saying that because Vivo is the one that is beinging it first and not your dear Samsung. I bet if this was something Samsung was doing, everyone would think Samsung is the God of mobile phones for 2016!! You android fans are always so darn stubborn and cannot accept anothing that a company does. You war with each other every day and you are all fans of the same OS.

You know I knew this day would come. The day when a smartphone's RAM would be higher than that of what a 32-bit computer is able to read. I'm using a desktop computer to compose this message and it has 6GB RAM in it but it's 32-bit so only 4GB of RAM is being read. What next, 7GB, 8GB and possibly 10GB. The future is scary in terms of specs.

I would have probably purchased this phone if only the screen size was smaller. 6 inches is a phablet and unlike a female who always have a big bag carrying around with them, I'm a man who carries his phone in his pocket like the average man out there so a 6 inch phone is way too big for me to easily carry around and futuremore it's almost impossible to use a 6 inch phone in one hand which is important to me.

I will stick to my S5 octa-core with it's 2GB RAM. It works well for everything I need it to do and it can easily be used in one hand. I look forward to the review of this phone though, especially to see how well it does in the benchmarks.

Unlike CPU power , ram capacity is always used.

There is no such thing as "ram needs" BTW, the more you give to android the more it is going to use and the faster it will become in the process.

If it's true Solar Charging and 6GB Ram, may be something new introduce in mobile technology. One day these under develop company will over thrown Apple and Samsung market popularity.

Nice one from Vivo. Seem like(maybe) they are collaborating with Samsung to get the 6gb ram and dual-edge display. Seen the dual-edge on Blackberry Priv; not very exciting but decent. I wonder how Vivo brings the feature to live. Ram improvement is needed. Android always need more ram. Unless this is a windows then I wouldn't even question them if they bring in 8gb ram even. Less ram does not mean less battery drain by the way. I wonder why people hating this? What are you thinking? Smartphone don't neef 6gb ram in 2016? Yeah, but we still want to at least future prove them. The next android N will see a drastic change for even better ram management.

Even now a 6GB phone is faster than a 4GB one because all your frequently used apps would be cached in ram and your phone would feel ultra responsive.
