It's reeally funny to read back comments.
In other hand you didn't spend one second to read the part where I say "Of course I know this doesn't cause us any harm (for example getting stuck on buying a new phone) since whenever this actually reaches the consumer plans by the operators, the phones would be supporting it long ago already".

It's so funny that we can't even wonder what are the reasons for such an anticipated development, we get that kind of reply... Would you have said "In Korea LTE-A is reaching the cap already" that would have made your reply 8 lines shorter and more informative.

AnonD-375713, 23 Feb 2016Read again: they get replaced far before their maximum band... moreAre you saying we need to wait till it reached the cap so then we can advances. The neccessity of advancing technology forward is prevented by the reasoning of "not reached the 70% cap yet"? So you rather stick with 4G for a few more decades until one day someone decide "Hey, look. 4G reached 80% bandwidth. Let's make 5G in 2030". Yeah, slow down of technological progress just because of your reasoning alone. We need 5G for many things. Example, international live streaming in 4K. Country like South Korea already have advanced 4.5G@LTE-A. They are the most advanced in LTE and already reached the 99% cap as you said. In international level it may be low. But some country would like to advance faster than the others. I wouldn't let my country to NOT change technology just because other is not using it yet. I mean, what the heck?

AnonD-375713, 23 Feb 2016Read again: they get replaced far before their maximum band... moreI'd say that analogy makes sense for something like memories but not speed. You can see this in the spec race. CPUs get quicker at much faster rate than memories get larger. Because speed can actually be used all the time at its "max" capacity whereas memory usage will depend on the user. I welcome 5G... just not the price tag that will be attached to it. lol

I can understand your point of view where you find that all the current 4G equipment aren't even close to 70% used and they would be obsolete before their lifetime. But that's sunk cost... The opportunity cost of not bringing 5G at the earliest possible moment is higher for all the parties involved.

AnonD-46560, 23 Feb 2016Why on earth does the mention of India have to be made ever... moreBecause it's the biggest emerging market in Asia for technologies, and one of the most important (and more populated) countries in the old continents. Also, they're technologically advanced in many areas, have quite a number of scientists and is felt as a promising investment for tech companies.

Also, they have a complex economical system, with a rising number of middle-class people, and vast paupered areas. The complex socio-economicals make it promising for various ranges of prices and qualities and innovation in products.

Whenever a new plan reaches like 10% of the maximum capacity, it gets replaced. 3G could do a lot more of what they pushed it to, 4G is not outdated at all for now, no plan sells any connection close to 50% of that beastly network's capacity. They get replaced for the sake of "new", for the new name they need to sell, not for technical limitations, I don't care about when they came, just how far did it go before being substituted.

Network systems are being replaced far before a required headroom should exceed, it's like changing a 1TB hard drive with a 10TB one because you used 200GB of space and fears of running out of storage.

I can stream with 3g 4k video in europe! Latency isn't the best. So what is the point of this?

AnonD-46560, 23 Feb 2016Why on earth does the mention of India have to be made ever... moreEverything he spoke was right. Leave 4g, we are still stuck in 3g with 2g speeds. Network providers are still busy shoving our throat with the ideology that "high speed internet and good quality services are luxury". We Indians are suffering from bad quality services, then why should we pretend to show everyone else that we are really happy with our services.

3G is fast enough but it's being throttled. 4G is a gimmick and so is 5G.

but that being said all companies will be looking to make 5g avaialbe soon as they will sell like crazy if the contracts are not restriced to a few GB of data (as that could be used in a second or two with 5G speeds)
