I assume this means that while work is being done on the 5G network, these companies are working on 5G devices.

There is just one problem. There is no devices with 5G network capability. Qualcomm, Exynos, Kirin, Mediatek, Intel, Apple A chipset, and many others need to make chipset that support 5G network format. It will be a huge event by MWC 2017 next year. Changing standard again. Even USB Type C haven't caught up with the market yet.

AnonD-375713, 23 Feb 2016why I don't get is... they develop a network system like 4G... moreAre you saying they got replaced too early? Do you even know when did 4G was launched? 3G exists since 2001. 4G first deploy in 2007 and LTE in 2009 but real 4G was in 2011. So, 5G in 2017 is peetty reasonable for a first batch development. It is exactly 10years after the first 4G. In 3years, by 2020 we will recognized them as real 5G.

why I don't get is... they develop a network system like 4G LTE that goes up to insane speeds, and before the system reaches like... 10% of it's maximum capacity... it gets replaced.
I don't understand why they release these new network systems so fast and don't use them fully. It must be pretty expensive for the operators to install new transceivers ever like 3 years if they could be up and going for like twice this time.
3G HSDPA+ goes what, 50 Mb/s? But any mobile Internet plan you contract with half that speed is on LTE only... I can't understand why not use the system to it's full potential.

Of course the consumer doesn't feel it cause when it does come to the contracts, the phones will be supporting it, possibly 1~2 years ahead of time, but still...

Verizon must work together with all those interested in the development and implementation of this technology of the future 5 G. And much more, as for example 6 G. Upload and download speed you need to be in the range Gigabit. This is the future.
Funding for research must be brought to all those interested in such as Samsung, Intel, Apple, Xiaomi, Meizu, Sony, LG, Nokia, Microsoft, etc.
