Microsoft cans Project Astoria for porting Android apps to Windows

26 February, 2016
ast year at the Build conference, Microsoft announced what was called Project Astoria, a bridge that will allow developers to port their existing Android apps easily to Windows 10. The feature eventually disappeared from Windows 10 builds that came out after that, which caused some people to wonder what was happening with the feature. Microsoft has now confirmed that it will no longer be working on that.

There are over million apps in App Store and Play store but most people don't use more than the essential 10 or so.

If Microsoft is trying to market W10M as a productivity centered business OS, they shouldn't try to bring thousands of consumer apps instead they should focus on bringing in the essential productivity apps.

I frankly see this as a good, smart decision. Project Astoria was always the weak link out of all the bridge projects, and had the most technical, legal, and security obstacles in its way. Stop whining, this isn't really a bad thing.

Well, this sounds like a good decision. It is a well-known fact that apps in the Apple store are of higher quality than the ones in Android's Play store.

One more nail in the coffin of Microsoft and mobile phone/is business. Seems strange, if I want more apps on my platform and make it easier for people to make apps for my platform then this could have been a great thing.

Not everything in play store is in apple store. Well, its better than having limited / no apps at all. I hope desktop flagship phone comes soon.
